Hi everyone! Thought I'd do an update. Well I'm officially in the Royal Navy now, done my 9wks of basic training and it was hard work but loads of fun too. Feeling very proud to be a member of the RN, living the dream! Right, anyway, I got the phase two part of my training a little wrong which was expected as you don't really find out everything until you get there. So right now I'm based at HMS Sultan in Gosport and I'm here for 22 weeks mostly theory work and lots of exams. It's only in the final 3 wks we get proper hands on with the aircraft. We near enough get an exam every week and I've had 3 so far but yet to find out my results on 2 of them. One of the best things is that when you join up at Raleigh, chances are you'll be in phase 2 with a lot of your mates from phase 1 so it's quite nice that way. What else to say....um, I work Mon-Fri 8am-4.15pm and get most weekends off unless I'm on duty. I'm 20 minutes away from the local beaches, always wanted to live near a beach. The only downside to this part of training is that it can get quite stressful with all the revision but there's plenty of time to chill out and the bar's only a minute walk away! We've got a really nice course instructor, chilled out but cracks the whip if he has to! Oh yeah, been Duty Class Leader for 1 week which was kinda crap, don't mind the responsibilities just that I find it hard to tell people what to do and some of the boys needed some butt kicking! GRRR!!!! Well, that's about it for now. I'll keep posting when I get time, let you know how I'm getting on with exams.
