"Does sunset sometimes look like it is coming up? Do you know what a faithful love is like? You're crying. You say you have burned yourself. But can you think of anyone who's not hazy with smoke?"

THE TAO OF SHISA BRI ॐॐॐ

There is so much in this poem, not just the layers...but the emotions that it invokes and evokes. One of my most favorite lines and/or images you have written:

"a clear sphere gate stamped into the plum dusk sky~ mango orb" ...That is spectacular. I have never thought of the sun and moon being like portals.. what a divine image and perspective.

I am sure even within the layers there is more that I am not aware of as you still hold much mystery...so do not fret...the glorious truth you paint here is that even the sky is not the limit to those with faith.

The art behind the piece..both poetic and picturesque is absolutely phenomenal. I love love love the superimposed images (both literally and figuratively) I like you! You are impressive and this is well worth having to do over cause the computard was wacked.

There is more, but I have learned from you the subtle mystery and I will save it...

I remember that night I watched the sunset across the street and thinking that it literally looked like a hole in the sky that you could step through, and I wondered in my dreamy Aquarian state if there somehow was a way and we stupid humans were just not paying attention:D

I know you recognize the mango sunset from a much earlier work that I wrote...and it is funny to me that I wrote that old poem long before I ever really witnessed a sunset like that that I have seen here and in other countries outside the states. (Like how I said "other countries"???...LOL)

I like what you said that "even the sky is no limit for those with faith"...that was beautiful.

There is not so much mystery or layers in this piece that are not obvious to the eye...then again, we all know that my vision can be ecclectic.

The greatest point for me was the lines "I mused that even the sun both rises and decends, and is no less glorious in each" and this for me was talking about how as humans we rise and fall, triumph and defeat, and abundance and decline as you call it. It is indeed natural, and can be quite beautiful in either state depending on how we look at or embrace our journey...and it is that perspective when we are falling that allows us to rise more gloriously again and again.

No...I am no longer mysterious dearest Shisa;) Thank you for sharing all the beauty that we together see.

Short, sweet, full of food references and deep thoughts.  You always amaze me when you go in these directions I didn't expect...Like many things, it took me back to my childhood and the wonder I had at the first sunset I watched at the ocean.  I don't think I thought the same things as you wrote, but I remember the wonder, the curiosity, and I remember how small I felt in comparison.

I am amazed...as always.

I would love to know what you did think of the sunset when you were a child. That would be interesting...perhaps the birth of another song?

(smiles)

I don't even remember what I thought all those years ago...but I do remember my 1st poem when I was 10 years old (no longer in my possession) that talks about the wind and how I wanted it to shatter the glass bottle I lived in...

Funny how all prayers are answered~

Thank you always...

That sounds beautiful. I bet there are a ton of places in Okinawa where you could do this. The whole island is all coral rocks and ledges in abstract formations like nothing I have ever seen...

Good to see you Fee. Thank you for stopping by~

I wish I could take entire credit for "Coconut Moon"...Story: Every night my husband, son and I walk along the sea wall after dinner. At the end of our walk there is a beach bar/ resteraunt named Coconut Moon. I absolutely LOVED this name and said that I needed to incorporate it into a poem. I can see that it evokes the same reaction in verse, which is pleasing:) And though I was more referencing the actual moon here in Okinawa, now you know that it is also an actual place.

I would love for you to look into the setting sun now as a grown man and tell me what you see...perhaps it would inspire a poem yourself. If so, please do let me know...

Thank you so much Brian

Namaste~

You know...I actually thought of you when I came up with those metaphor, because your poetry is always so visually rich...you challenge me to bring more of my senses into my writing as most of my work tends to be kinesthetic. So truly, I have to thank you for being part of my growth as a writer this way:)

Thank you so much Nicole

What a marvelous treatment of this archetype, Leila.  The circle denotes wholeness, community and unity, and your poem gives sensuous grounding to those abstract concepts.

I LIKE your perspective very much Lance! I never thought about the unity aspect consciously...but subconsciously it does now seem very apparent...

Funny, I had a friend point out to me once after years of viewing my abstract art, that I always draw a circle/sphere somewhere in my work. I had never realized this on a conscious level. I never thought about it...I just drew. But I think your observation definitely taps into layers within myself that I don't always understand...

Such is the way of faith and how it moves through individuals unexplainably.

Thank you so much Lance

Very nicely done.  It reminded me of a memory I had as a young child.  We were riding in a car headed west and the sun was going down.  It was not nearly as bright that low on the horizon and I remember having the distinct impression that it was actually a hole in the sky.  Thanks.
