1.)Hey guys give us a little biography about your band? and tell us a little story about how band started?

Coni: to start off… id like introduce you to the band members. Paolo and Romel on Guitars, P. Mike on Bass guitar, T.John on Drums and me, Marconi doing the screamings. Some of us are neighbors and is practically a stone throw away from each other. We all hanged in the same neighborhood called phase 3-A. Mike, Pao, john and I used to jam to a lot of heavy metal shit back when we were lil' kids. Our common friend, Steve has this garage studio that is a long walk from our place. We'd walk it every weekend or whenever theres no classes. We just love to jam. Back then we didn't really took it too seriously it was kind of a hobby and our national past time. Hell we enjoyed jamming to heavy shit. But We officially formed as a band with fixed line up last September 2003. back then the band was called Nuclear Termuloid. We 1st played at freedom bar somewhere in manila. We were invited by mike's younger sister cookie of 15mins.Of Shame to play with them. Back then we hadn't had some originals and we didn't want to play covers coz its kinda stupid. So a day before the show we made 3 songs and before the show we made another one… to a total of 4 fast brutal shit. hell those are the 1st songs!. then after that show we played countless of gigs. fuck I cant remember, im always high. hehehehe. from then on we tend to play every gig eve been invited to.

2.)How did you come up with a brutal name like Nuclear Punishment?

Coni: our initial name was really Nuclear Termuloid. Termuloid is a term that we used to joke about, a lot, it means… umm fuck I don't know! It just sounded funny… hahahaha…
But due to some unknown reasons the band's name was always misspelled or misread at shows. So after months of arguing we decided to change it to a more understandable name, Nuclear Punishment. It was a fusion of the 2 name choices Brutal Punishment and Nuclear Termuloid. 1st it kinda sounded cheesy and as the days passed, we've grown to love it… And that's NPA history folks.

3.) Can you define your brutal music?(Is it death metal,black,grind,porn.. etc..)

coni: We all came from different bands so… well to put it in right context, its kind of a mix of all the music we love and play... Speedmeatal, grind, crust, powerviolence, Death, trash, Hardcore/punk and yes we are inspired by the porn we get from our good ol'friend Macoy Manuel. Also b'Coz some of us plays with other bands… Paolo and John plays for this PositiveTrashcore band FEUD. Mike is from a Grind/crust band Age of Decomposition. Rommel is from a Metal band Harvest of Hate, their vocalist Bokya, died of drugs and alcohol(so kids Don't do drugs!). Marconi, mike and John is with this punk/Crust band called Youth For Crust. Mike and I used to play with a trash/Punk band Verum X. Rommel, Paolo and Mike also played with Half the Battle. Kinda long explanation eh. hehehehe
The sound we create is what Nuclear Punishment is. We just don't wanna be branded/categorized as metal or as a hardcore band. Call it whatever you like. but well just say "it's Brutal, Termulating music".

3.)What inspired you to make brutal songs like Turbo X and
From the bottom of my heart?

Coni: We love brutal music. As the saying goes "you are what you eat" we love brutal music like spaghetti. As for making the song in general, we just jam around and chews every part of the song till we decide to swallow it whole or spit out the refuse. Turbo X is an old song, it was written way back in 2004, the song was about all the war shit we usually see on TV and the current state of strife in the certain parts of the Philippines, particularly the Mindanao region. Some of the words I wrote was inspired by some video game I was playing before we started to lay in the words of the song. As for "from the Bottom of my heart" I wrote it about this girl whom someone used to fuck and go out for 3years. Eventually some shit happened and she broke up with him for some dumb reason. Then she got this new guy, but still she tends to come by every morning to give him a blowjob, chicken joi, pancit malabon and Beer for a year or so… the words in the song is really infact true, word for word,. Its like storytelling. You capture every detail in its juiciest form. The title was given to me by our old friend Easy Morgan of Half the Battle. He was freaked-out on how I write my lyrics… "Eat my Dick, Lick my balls" that's bad man, he said… hahaha we miss that guy though. Fuck you, Easy! I tend to write every song in its most sincerest form… thou I write brutal shit, we practically are good kids. We just see violence and I try to write it as if you'll see different perspectives of the topic. Like looking at rape in the eyes of the rapist or being being imprisoned/arrested for having a joint or just plain having some good time with friends. I was imprisoned thrice, fuck!. Some of the songs are from my own experiences so that's why some of the songs are personal. As for the profanity songs id like to carry the burden of being the scapegoat for being The most perverse person in the band, they call me Kantutanoid for that. With all due respect, we All love and respect womyn/girls. We all have girlfriends. As for me its hard to get one if you constantly sing about "fucking her like a title bout" shit. Hahaha. Porn might have influenced me to write profane lyrics. And my once complex sex life, like having sex with 2 cute Christian school girls…hahahaha, nuff said…

4.)What can you say about the mainstream culture today?

Coni: bunch of sheep minded pussies. Thou I don't hate all of the band in the mainstream. the majority just sucks, big time! I don't mind em at all.. they are just products of the industy that we, in the UG scene, don't wanna be a part of.
'Guess They want fame and fortune. In the aspect of mainstream culture, I despise the way they cash out on the hardcore/punk movement. some say they are punk(Daw) or hardcore(daw) but they only play/listen to those bands they watch on Mtv and other music channels. Mainstream is stagnant shit that we we don't wanna be a part of. Selling out is for pussies(not meant in a macho/sexist way)

5.)How often do you guys are invited to play in gigs?

Coni: as much as often as we are invited. We love to play so we tend to come to every gig were invited to. We even crashed some show in Malate with our compatriots YouthForCrust. We were invited to this show but it was cancelled but the venue had another production… so we decided we would still play…fortunately the organizer was cool enough to be culture shocked to our brand of music.. the bands that played there was this bunch of crap that you'd mostly see on Mtv or listen on the radio. That was a good experience. Hahahah We have a couple of good correspondents that let us play at their gigs/events. We even played Olongapo twice or thrice with Y.F.C., batangas and laguna countless of times, Bulacan with our friends from Play and yea Metro Manila and our Hometown of Cavite. Just invite us and if the circumstances are good well be there and as always, we'd be happy to play for free. The only problem sometimes is the fares to get there, some of us are jobless and not that well off.. but, well we have to make sacrifices for what we love the most. That's Passion!

6.)Do you guys have any past releases like demos and splits?

Coni: we recorded a demo late 2004 it was a live recording of our 1st 6 songs. We wanted to have a record we could listen to. The record was obviously not for release… we handed some burned CD's to our closest friends in the scene and we got positive reactions… so we decided to record a cleaner version of the songs. After months of earning money we hit Soudcreations studio at Quezon city. We were joined by our good ol buddy Easy whom also did some screams to one of the song called Proud to Commit Suicide. The recording went well and we recorded a grand total of 9 songs, 4 of witch are taken from the previous demo. It was then mixed by our ol'friend Macoy Manuel of Earbender studios in Binakayan Bacoor, Cavite. We got some help from Avoid Fate Label with the financial aspects of the mixing and they (Brian and Ledz of Avoid Fate) decided to release the EP on their label. After the release we got plenty of shows and the growth it gave inspired us to write new songs. Destitutes, we again found ourselves needing money for the recording of the new songs. Then Take4Collective stepped in to help us with the recording. By late 2006 we recorded 5 songs at Earbender that would be part of the planned 4 way split with Isvarah, Prayer of Endurance and Forgiveness Denied. The songs are now in the process of mastering… so I think by mid 2007 this year it would be released for consumption. And I promise you this… the CD would be worth every cent.

7.)Have you finished you're recording for the 4 way split
with Forgiveness denied,Prayer of Endurance and Ishvarah?

Coni: Yea the Take4Collective guys are in the process of master mixin the cd and the layouts on the cover and sleeves are getting its final touches.
Thanx to Darwin "the AfroDemon" Dacanay for the awesome Nuclear Punishment artwork. As for the other bands… hands down to them and we are just too happy to be apart of the 4 way slit… the bands are awesome and they have their own styles of brutality, so the CD will be worth listening from the 1st track to the last.

8.)What can you guys say about the DIY UG metal scene today?

Coni: We are always a band that never minds playing in the Hardcore/punk scene or the metal scene… we consider it the same underground scene… as always, we are amazed at how really competent and dedicated people/collectives can do. Doing a show is no easy matter, may it be HC/punk or metal. And those band who release their stuff DIY style, damn! its purely dedication. That's why some of the foreign bands respect the 3rd world DIY scenesters, may it be Metal or Hardcore/punk. It's always amazing to see how the scene manages to strive without the help of the outside shit. As WhatXHappensXNextX? would say it "Communication and Cooperation" and as far I could see, its really effective with all the new technology and all… communication is practically just a click away. And its really great that more and more kids are getting the hang of DIY culture…

9.)Does the UG metal community have any problems today?

Coni: as for the Metal scenes weve been/played with. There is the shit that some Metal shitheads who don't respect the bands who don't look like em… those purist fucks whom hate hardcore/punk kids just because they are not metal. And another is some don't give a damn to other bands. Unlike in the Hardcore/punk scene the people are kinda easy to approach. I'm not saying in general but There would always be some shitty mentality. That's for the problems… but id like to hand it to some metal heads and organizers whom tend to bring people from the Hardcore/punk scene and the Metal scene together. A big hand/Hailz to Roel Mores for doing that every year at his Rural Carnage shows. Also to our brothers in Ologapo Metal scene and the No Bullshitters corix and his bunch of BloodDeathMurder caompatriots. There are a lot of good sides of the scene so I wont focus on the bad shit. Coz its always been there and its up to the people in the scene if they want that shit to stay or not. It's all a matter of choices and a lot o respect.

10.)Thanks for giving me a chance to interview you guys. I got to end beacuse I ran out of questions.. hehehe any reactions, comments, shoutouts, messages, promotions do you guys wanna say?
