So what’s been happening then? It has been a little while since I logged in. Mainly because I’ve been off out enjoying the short spell of nice weather before everything descended into snowy freezingness again.

The Easter holidays presented the first real opportunity to get out and tame the new garden. Sad, middle aged type that I’ve now become I’m getting really quite excited about the planned veg patch. I have little tomato seedlings on my window sill and my pot of spicy salad leaves is coming along nicely. It’s been good to get away from a desk and get some fresh air and exercise.

Did take a day out at a more established garden during the hols, however.

Been meaning to visit Castle Howard for a while. Been wanting to visit since watching the DVD of Brideshead Revisited but it’s one of those places that you never really get round to visiting  even though it’s virtually on the doorstep.
Was worth the effort for the spectacular display of daffodils and pretty decent tea shop. Was even better in the afternoon when the sun popped out and I dashed back to the front to snap the house in the sunshine.

It will also probably be the last bit of sunshine we get this year. Having treated myself to some new patio furniture, I feel sure the summer is goign to be a total washout. Sorry

I’ve also been catching up with some friends of mine I haven’t seen for a while. They turned up to deliver the exciting news that they are having and AGA installed. Obviously such things don’t come cheap so, to ensure the purchase was going to be worthwhile they took the trouble to build a virtual AGA in their kitchen. Yes, that’s right...they went down to the local grocer, aquired a load of cardboard boxes, painted them cream and black and stuck an AGA badge on the front. Oh I do so love my ingenious (if ever so slightly mad) friends. Makes me realise I ought to make the effort to catch up more often.
