Mr. Lawrence,

My name is Doina Manea.

Doing some research related to a novel I am writing in which one character is DJ, I came across with Alex Blagg's blog. In May last year, he posted a vitriolic diatribe against "pretentious DJs."

http://blaggblogg.blogspot.com/2005/04/look-nobody-cares-that-youre-dj.html

His post attracted hundreds of comments from DJs at large.

I browsed through them and found a lengthy comment signed "Adam." Erudite, splendidely written.

I've been so impressed by that post that, curious, I did a bit of search to find out who "Adam" was. The two links in his post don't work (sites removed?) I think that the person who wrote it was the same with Adam Goldstone. It's hard to imagine how sad I felt when I found out that he's not any longer with us. You, as a friend, might be able to recognize Adam's style in that post, if you wish to do so.

Respects,

Doina

Doina:
I am Adam's father and for some reason, just read your posting of September 7 again. The writing style is not at all like my son Adam's...not even close, although he was erudite, funny and an excellent writer. He actually supported himself in part by writing bits and pieces for magazines, liner notes for CDs etc. I am quite certain that another Adam wrote the piece you mentioned.

Hello Mr. Jerry Goldstone,

Thank you for replying to my post. I haven't expected that anyone would ever read or/and reply. It just happened that I saw your post today.

So it wasn't your son who wrote that text. It leaves me in the dark because I cannot use excerpts from it in my writing without the author's consent.

Nevertheless, I am sending you my sincere condolences for your terrible, terrible loss. It is not hard to imagine what a parent goes through when he/she loses a child. Your son continues to live in the  music he'd left behind, in the texts he'd written, and in the memory of his family, friends and fans.

Respects

Doina
