Current mood: good
I find that most people get involved in politics in one way or another b/c an issue has hit close to home for them. My case is no exception. So, I was doing some research, and I logged on to the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety to read the driver's manual for license testing. I was shocked when I didn't find the the "3 feet law" mentioned anywhere regarding the passing of cyclists by automobiles. Now, maybe someone else knows where to find it. If so, please let me know. In the meantime I have contacted the ODPS, and I am waiting for a response. Oklahoma's 3 feet law was signed into effect by Gov. Brad Henry in 2006, so that's nearly 4 years of people who don't care about it not knowing about it! The ignorance is with the public, of course, b/c just because you don't know about something doesn't mean it doesn't exist; HOWEVER, I think it is both the duty of the people and of the institution (I'm just using big words here) to do their best at bringing new changes to light. Personally, I'm going to push the written test being a requirement for license renewals. That way no one will have the excuse of not being up-to-date on any changes or new laws. It's our responsibility to know, but this could be a more proactive approach by the ODPS. If you fail the test once you can retake it in a week. If you fail again your license gets suspended for 30 days or 6 months. We have got to take driving more seriously. Okay, enough for my hootin' and hollerin'. I threw together some sugar cookies today. They're pretty damn good if you ask me. I also whipped up a tuna salad. I'm mostly spending all of my free time in bed b/c I had the flu last week, and I still have lingering after effects like coughing and congestion. My tibia still isn't healing. The tibia has a low blood supply, so it's difficult to heal anyway, but my soft tissue damage was so extensive as well as the fracture, so the poor thing is having a hard time.
