Well, that's Halloween been and gone for another year. Personally, I love it. I love the fun of it all. Everybody's always in a good mood, well except the mad, last minute parents rushing around to get organised! I did that one year and vowed never to do it again...far too stressful!! We went to my cousin Frank's Halloween Party on Friday night. It was really good! Meryn was a skeleton, i was morticia adams and Fraser, Bex, Abbie and Darroch were pirates. Hoo har! Steven arrived yesterday. Was meant to be going back to work on wednesday cos the boat's coming down here for the winter...but the div ended up in hospital. What a drastic way to get out of helping with Halloween! He'd been on the skite a couple of weeks ago and ended up on the pub roof whilst extremely pished. Woke up the following morning with a big gouge out his ankle...no idea how it happened. By the time he came down here and got it checked over at casualty it was all swollen and badly infected. He was sent over to the royal alexandra and they've kept him in and given him rakes of injections. Sweet!

So today the damiens and i decorated the hall with loads of cobwebs and spiders and glow in the dark ghouls, ghosties and skeletons. We dipped pears and apples in chocolate and sprinkled hundreds and thousands on them. We made 80 and they were gone in under an hour...it's so weird living in a town! I tried to hide some fun size mars bars for later...but the damiens found them and gave them away to the latecomers. bah humbug!
Katy, my next door neighbour, has three young kids. She'd had a wee party earlier on, straight after school. This all spilled out to the front of the houses and she and her sister had about twenty under 7s dancing to the timewarp and singing at the top of their voices!! Totally mad...so i joined it for a wee while (in my morticia costume again) 

Meanwhile, Meryn was waiting for her wee pal to call on her...they were going out guising together. She had a great time handing out the sweeties, crisps, fruits and nuts to the guisers that came round. Her wee pal didn't come round till half seven, so by the time she arrived Meryn had been disappointed for too long and wouldn't go out. I felt quite sorry for her. Wee soul!

So that's Halloween over for another year. Bah. I was reading today on yahoo mail that the french have declared Halloween as 'dead'. Apparently the french have taken exception to Halloween on Anti-American and Anti-Pagan grounds. They reckon the americans have made Halloween too commercial and that the pagans have celebrated this un-christian festival for too long. Lol Trust the French to get everything arse about tit! I wonder if any of them actually know the history and tradition of Samhain. I seriously doubt it. I guess they probably have a point about it becoming 'americanised' but i can assure you that's not a bad thing...think pumpkins!! Here in Scotland we used to spend absolutely hours carving out turnips (swedes) and putting candles inside them. It was bloody hard going!! Yay for pumpkins! Takes a couple of minutes to scoop out the inside and a few more to carve the design on the front - this year we had a big spider on ours - and then a wee tealight and voila! Sorted!

Anyway, am now sitting watching the Secret Policeman's Ball on tv. The Amnesty International Charity Event. It's just the highlights, but some of it's very funny. I got an email last year with the 'Karaoke for the Deaf' video on it, by David Atkinson. I loved it and forwarded it to everyone i know! It's him signing along to Natalie Imbruglia's 'Torn'. Anyway, he was on performing this tonight. Halfway through he was joined onstage by ms imbruglia herself...and she did some of the signing too. Funniest thing i've seen in a long time. It's all over youtube...you should check it out.
