In 1967 Albania became the 1st and ONLY formally declared Atheist state. Religious observance was completely prohibited and violators were persecuted. It wasn't until 1990 that the right to religious practice was restored to the people.  It worked for 23 years! What do you think the US would be like if we had a religious prohibition?
Mr. Tangent

This is why I'm a borderline communist/socialist/marxist; because most communist governments do not allow religious practice. Actually, that's not really a reason why I'm borderline but it is a benefit! I just don't like class warfare and have's and have not's. Capitalism is a pretty ugly system if you sit down and analyze it.

To Mr. Tangent.  In the communist or marxist government you won't have to worry about have's and have nots.  In those types of government no one has anything.

It wouldn't work...  People would still be religious just like it doesn't stop drug use, because it is all in what you believe...  But we do need freedom from religion not just religious freedom.

This would be a country without freedom.  A totalitarian state with no freedom, no free thought, a government of thought police with delusions of godhood of their own.  If you can suppress ones belief you can suppress a lot more, including your page on myspace.  When you lose the freedom to think, the game is over.  By your logic of "It worked for 23 years." it was suppressed for 23 years, just as freedom was suppressed during the 12 years the Third Reich was in power in Germany.  You're talking about persecuting people because you object to the way they think, even if what they think has no effect on your life.  Are you against religion because it's harmful or is it outright hatred?  This blog seems to signify it's the latter of the two.  I don't see hatred and persecution as rational at all.  I suggest you study the meaning of rational thinking because right now your blog is 100% illogical and that my would be blogger is irrational.
