Last night (Feb 18) The Lizard Lounge in Cambridge celebrated the 10th
Anniversary of its weekly 'Poetry Jam'. The event was both a
celebration of 10 years of great poetry and live music, and a
celebration of the lives and poetry of two poets connected to the
lounge who prematurely passed away, Thomas Grimes, and Lisa King. I
had the incredible honor of winning first place out of 8 slam poets in
the poetry slam competition on this historic night, meaning that I
automatically qualify for Lizard Lounge's slam poetry semifinals, to
be held on Sunday, April 29. In addition, I was able to play trumpet
with the outstanding house band, the Jeff Robinson Trio, which backs
up the featured poets and the open mic participants each week. Thanks
so much to everyone who came through to support, and hope to see even
more of you in future weeks. Generally I will be listing the Poetry
Jam events for weeks that I will be performing on this site.
