Hey everybody,
unfortunately, this train is coming to its final stop. After almost 8 years, 3 vans, 4 records, and a countless amount of awesome shows played, Manwithtarget is packing it in. I can’t even begin to express into words how much this band has meant to me. I’ve learned so much and made so many great friends through this experience. We’ve played with some of our favorite bands, taken the stage across the country, met some of the most talented musicians around, and most importantly, had a blast doing it. No matter what, Manwithtarget will always be a part of us, and that will never change.
Okay. Now you probably want to know the reasons as why to this is happening. I started this group a long time ago out of the ashes of a couple local bands. At the time, I hadn’t touched an instrument in about a year. The guys I started this band with were so energetic about playing music that it gave me a boost I seriously needed. Getting back into playing music made me feel so alive. It was just so much fun that I never wanted to stop. As time went on, members came and went, but the original idea was always there. To have fun playing music, and to push it as hard as we could. The more we pushed, the more shows and tours we began to play. This began to wear on some members, and keeping up became a problem. Anyone in a band will tell you that trying to change your members while moving at such a fast pace is a pretty hard thing to do. Especially if that member you’re changing is a singer. I think we did pretty well considering. However, the one thing I never wanted was for this to go on longer than it had to. There comes a time when you have to assess the situation in front of you and make a choice. Do we want to be that band who keeps going no matter who’s singing or playing in it? Or do we say ‘after 4 vocalists, 3 guitarists, 2 drummers, and a uncountable amount of good times, it’s time to pack it in.’ My purpose has always been to play as many shows as possible simply cause I love to do it. No two people are exactly the same, and for some people in this band, music comes second. As the sole original member of this band, I feel it’s time to throw in the towel. It kills me to do it, but I’d rather go out on a high than end as a band struggling to stay together. The 4 of us remain great friends, and I’m sure we will continue to play music in some way, shape, or form. I know I will.
We will be playing one final show here in our hometown of Ajax on Sat, May 30th @ the Ajax Legion. All the details are in the shows section here on our page. We hope you will come out one last time and bang your head till it breaks off.
I hope that clears everything for you all. I would just like to say one more time how grateful I am for all this band has given me. I will cherish everything it has thrown my way and will always remember the great times had.
Fists up, Hearts out.
