Perfect! I was just watching a show on the Science Channel describing evolution in some species. It's always fascinating stuff.


There was a part where they were describing a rare condition where a human child was born without an iris in her eyes. They discovered the gene that is responsible for that condition. At a separate time a group of scientists were examining some sort of flies and noticed that some were born without compound eyes and were blind. The interesting thing being that the gene responsible was the same as that in the case of the little girl.

Neat! It's bizarre sometimes to think how much we have in common with other creatures--even insects, which seem almost alien to us. All from the exact same source, most likely.
