Hey guys ...I have my paws on Submarine and it just rocks.  Like any new album it was not what I was expecting, but that is more a reflection on me than you guys.  I think I was expecting more of a back to the roots stoner kinda thing.

So how would I as a mere punter describe this album to my mates?   Well first and foremost ...it is a Rollerball Album and that is what counts.  There is a sense that we have been blindfolded and asked to pick an influence in time and place.  Yet at no time do you ever feel that you are not listening to Rollerball in 2009.

I love the Robin Trower feel to the beginning of "Never a Rodeo" and the hint of Led Zep meets Metallica in Detroit with "We Always Slide".  Then Matt does a nice little Nick Cave thingy in "Your Lullaby" in which he ascends perfectly to his signature ball crushing hair on fire yoddle :-)  (see you don't have to be journalist to sound like a wanker).

Anyhow ...I just love "Tame Existence", it is the closest that the Ball have got to reproducing the unique quirkyness of Lifetime.  In actual fact this track would not have been out of place on Superstructure.  

Submarine is not a casual listen, I mean I have given it about half a dozen spins and each time I am hearing and feeling alot more than the previous listen.  There are nice little incidental bits scattered throughout and quite a lot of variation between the tracks.  I guess in a similar vein to Krams "Mixed Tapes".  For me there is only one ommision that I would have made.  I think that "Run Aground" should have been left for another album simply because it jars in the Submarine context.

Love your work guys, this is a fcnkn great listen, I think you have achieved an up to the minute Rollerball album with the right amounts of retro.  GO THE BALL !!!!
