Hey QuizFest readers!
Push Play’s new album, Found, was just released yesterday and it’s already
climbing the charts! We had a pizza party with band members C.J. (vocals),
Steve (lead guitar), Nick (bass) and Derek (drums) to dish about the new album,
shooting the video for “Midnight Romeo," romantic dates and surprising secrets!
QF: Tell us about the new
CD.
C.J.: It’s a really eclectic album. There’s urban tracks,
dance tracks, everything. We just want to keep it open so everyone can relate.
QF: What’s your favorite
song from the album?
C.J.: My favorite song’s called “Start Again.” We initially
wrote it as starting a relationship over again, but it can really be towards
anything.
Steve: My favorite song is the first track, “Watch it Burn.”
It’s a great way to kick off the album, and it’s the song we’re going to be
opening up with on our tour.
Nick: I have to agree with Steve, I love “Watch it Burn.” I
think it’s a great song. It’s my favorite to play.
Derek: Mine is “Midnight Romeo” because it’s our first
single. The lyrics are in your face. It’s really fun to play live.
QF: That’s your music
video with Emily Osment. Do you have any funny stories from on-set?
Nick: Oh, we do! During the shoot, we had a lot of lights.
We kept breaking light bulbs, especially Steve. He spun his guitar against this
wood frame, banged it, and it split it in two. Light bulbs were falling
everywhere. By the end of the shoot, there were just cracked light bulbs.
Steve: Yeah, C.J. was doing an interview during a break and
they were asking him, “So what do you think of the shoot so far?” He said,
“Well, Steve keeps breaking lights.” As soon as he said that, more lights
shattered!
QF: No way! Did anyone get
hurt?
Steve: No, thank God!
QF: Whew! So what makes a
great date?
C.J.: I’m a big movie fan. Even though it’s cliché, I’m a
fan of dinner and a movie.
Steve: I have a date tonight all planned. It’s my 6 month
anniversary with my girlfriend, and she’s flying in from Boston. She always
complains about the food in college. I’m gonna pick her up at the airport and
bring her a burrito from her favorite Mexican restaurant. Then we’re going to
go to the Melting Pot to have fondue. My girlfriend didn’t know what fondue
was, so I was like, “Well there’s fondues, and there’s fon-don’ts!”
Derek: Clever Steve. Clever!
Steve: Thanks.
QF: We’re sure she’ll love
the fondue. Lastly, can each of you tell me something new that I can’t find out
just by Googling you?
Derek: I don’t like to wear underwear.
Steve: Oh speaking of underwear, when we go on tour, my mom
labels mine so I don’t get it mixed up with the other guys.
C.J.: I was really involved with school when I was a
senior. I did all kinds of extra-curricular stuff. I was even in the Peanut
Butter and Jelly Gang. We made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the
homeless.
Nick: I get really grossed out at hotels. I don’t like to
sleep in the beds. I just lie flat and keep my hands to my side. When we’re on
tour, it’s really hard for me to sleep. Also, we carry Purell with us wherever
we go. I do it too much. We’re always hugging people, though. I don’t want to
get swine flu!
C.J.: I think to make ourselves different on stage, we
should all be in our own protective bubble. That would be cool!
Band in a bubble? That sounds
like fun! Tell us: Will you buy Push Play’s new album?
