Cherrykicks / The Poisoning split CD - El Diablo fanzine
The Cherrykicks/The Poisoning - Split (CD)
Previously the Cherrykicks were a pop-punk band with a rock backbone, but what the hell happened? It sounds like they..ve rolled their sleeves up and decided it..s more fun taking a walk on the wild side. It..s not that they..ve lost any of their appeal. It..s just that they sound like some hard times have rained down on them. Sometimes when the shit hits the fan, it..s what separates the men from the boys, and to my ears it..s obvious that the Cherrykicks have stepped up to the plate with a more street level attitude. Think along the lines of the Hellacopters sporting a black eye and you will be getting close. Hell think what you want, just check them out. The Poisoning on the other hand are even more of a surprise. Effortlessly trampling all my preconceptions underfoot and coming out the gate yelping, snarling and hissing a scream through gritted teeth. This isn..t your usual dark side ramblings of the goth-lite brigade. This is a far punkier and angst ridden affair altogether. It..s dark, it..s vicious and it has a very real sense of barely suppressed violence coming at you in aural waves. Okay, it..s not going to win any prizes for subtlety, there are far too many metal overtones for that, but there is enough shading in this to provide a more mature take on the genre. Not for the faint of heart then. Maybe they should have a warning on this. Something along the lines of ..Not for pussies.. (Room 21 Records)

EVE by Scare Street (online horror punk fanzine)
You love horrorpunk but your getting slightly bored of all these danzig-a-likes that all sound the same and you want to find a horrorpunk band with that extra bite?
If you answered YES to the above question then The Poisoning are the band for you!! With a strong hardcore influence and a strong metal undertone running throughout each song, TP are a force to be reckoned with. Think The Crimson Ghosts meet Cradle Of Filth!
This EP (the EVE EP) is a raw, stripped down horrorpunk/metal masterpiece, choosing not to conform to one genre and showing their songwriting talents. Each song sounds well written, performed and produced, surprising really for an underground horrorpunk band. But with songs like 'Seal Broken Doors' and 'untitled' The Poisoning show their true potential to be a very popular band among the Scottish and British underground. Already with a devoted following of undead fans, they are never short of gigs and are always looking to evolve and improve on their original and fresh modern-day horrormetal sound. This EP is available from the bands myspace(www.myspace.com/poisoning) for the small amount of £4, and believe me it is worth every blood covered penny!!!!
This year all The Poisoning's releases are available from The Room 21 Records' ITunes
