LOCAL SINGER SOARS THROUGH TO THE GRAND FINAL OF OPEN MIC UK!!
Local talent
Dominic Crane of Erdington has battled thousands of other singers across the country and has made it through to compete in the National Grand Final of Open Mic UK!! Competing against other hopefuls across the UK in auditions and regional finals, Dominic will now go on to represent the Birmingham area in the hope of walking away with an impressive management and recording contract and being crowned the UK’s Best on the Mic 2009.
The regional final saw an impressive performance from all of the acts as they competed on stage in a live head to head showcase in front of a capacity crowd and judging panel. But it was Dominic
Dominic, who hopes to replace his current day job as a tiler by winning the first prize of a £20,000 recording deal, said " The battle for a place at the National Final was no easy task– over 8, 000 singers entered the competition, with auditions touring across 12 regions throughout the UK. Successful acts not only had to impress the judges at the auditions but also had to perform under pressure and wow hundreds of spectators at the live regional show."
Open Mic UK is the national talent competition which searches for the UK’s best singers and songwriters of all genres who perform either covers or original material. Travelling across the country, the competition’s aim is to find a potential recording artist who could top the UK charts.
Chris Grayston, Events Director of Open Mic UK explains "The standard this year has been outstanding – there has been a great mix of pop, acoustic and rnb acts and a good balance of covers and original material. The Grand Finalists will really have to work hard ahead of the final and then pull out the performance of their lives in order to be crowned the overall winner – we’re in for a great final show."
If he wins the competition, Dominic will have the opportunity to record an album of his own material in a professional studio with the potential of large investment for a single release and an aim to chart nationally. Thrust into the spotlight through print, radio and television media, he will also have the chance to tour across the UK and receive mass exposure.

’s explosive performance that secured the top spot and he’s now set to fly the flag for Birmingham at the National Grand Final. Dominic is aiming to get as much regional support as possible in order to be crowned the UK’s best Open Mic act. Among the supporters already are BBC WM’s Louise Brierley and Brett Birks whose Introducing show has been following Dominic’s progress since he reached the regional final in Leamington last month. As well as playing his winning song "Baggage Man" he was invited onto the show and performed a special live session in the studio on November 5th together with Harmonica player, Harry Boylan. www.myspace.com/dominiccrane where you will also find Dominic’s songs together with dates of other forthcoming live appearances. www.openmicuk.co.uk
