Current mood:  thoughtful
That shit can be expensive though, right? Damn. I need a job.

From Mattieu Ricard's blog.

Recently, in an international flight while the meal was being served, my neighbor, a young American Midwest, asked me with a hint of surprise

--  Are you a vegetarian?
--  Yes.
-- Do you think that meat is something impure?
-- Not at all, but I do no harm in eating.
--  But all the animals eat each other. C'est la nature. Is nature.
-- Maybe, but I do not eat them.
-- If one of these animals was here, he might eat you!
-- Certainly, but I don't think this is reason enough for me to eat them. To quote George Bernard Shaw, "Animals are my friends and I do not eat my friends."
-- Oh, the animals are your friends ....
-- Yes.

It's expensive because you're missing out on alot of nutrients that you have to make up for in other ways. I was vegetarian for a couple months. It's not really hard if you're really committed to it, you just need to make sure you're not fucking your system up by stopping all the nutrients you get from meat, cold turkey. That'll make ya sick.

Cool, but please, just don't do that bastard thing where you still eat seafood. The oceans are running out of inhabitants and it pisses me off when people turn down meat that was bred for eating, but will hoe into a lobster that was born in the wilderness and fought for years to feed itself before it just happened to get caught.

nuts, nuts, nuts, and beans give you good proteins

Yeah. I already eat a lot of beans, so that shouldn't even be too much of a problem, I have meat only like a few times a week at most, but yeah I remember last time I tried I lost around 10 pounds or something, and it took me forever to get it back.

And I definitely don't buy that, "fish aren't meat" thing. That's a load of shit.

I agree with melody here; although I've been considering going veggie myself. the first problem is simple; without a steady intake of meats, you don't absorb complete proteins, I would first track you typical eating habits in a week, and try to steady you intakes of vitamins and minerals first. You might find that you're already not getting enough of something, but that's not the point, one big problem with going veggie these days is that many turn to soy for whatever reason, what they don't realize is that soy produces cortisol in your system, with degrades testosterone, and saps calcium from your bones. Subtracting soy from a veggie's diet typically leaves them with little remaining, I know you're not asking for my opinion here, but I'd look into sesame seed, kidney and lima beans, and pinto beans too; you have to be specific otherwise you're not getting particular minerals and vitamins. Along with that, as a veggie, you would have to be out in the sun more, with more skin exposed, so that you absorb more vitamin D, you'd also have to get into an aerobic exercise of some sort, to keep your metabolism up, or you might get a buildup of carbs and fats (because veggies tend to focus more on them when they cut proteins out).

hope this helped a bit.

Thanks for the tips. They'll come in handy. I wouldn't be turning to soy much at all, I'm not a huge fan of the stuff.
