ok, so i work at pactiv, and right now we are going thru a rough time... seems not alot of people in this economical climate want to buy styrofoam. hmmm. so we are trying this thing where they tell people what days they have to take off. but most of us live paycheck to paycheck, and we need 40 hrs. a week; that's what we signed on for... i am lucky, i have additional income so taking a day or so isn't too bad. but what about the single mom trying to raise her kids, works there and works as a cleaner on her weekends off too? She can't afford to be forced to take time off just because the company is having a hard time. unemployment, i guess would be ok, better than nothing, but that's only half of what she makes... it's just frustrating. i know we have this election coming up, and most of us are pinning our hopes on one canandidate... but realize that person is exactly that... a person. REALLY no better than you and i, yet he thinks he can "fix" our problems. i got news... it's not just his responsibility. WE got ourselves into the mess we're in, it's up to all of us to dig ourselves out. sad to say, we are a lazy society... i am too. i admit it. we tend to point fingers, place blame, say the other person is the problem. sorry. WE are the problem. so let's all get off our asses and DO something about it. I can't fix the pactiv mess; but i do have ideas. i'm sure alot of employees do, too. maybe we can share them with management, so this "slow time" won't last forever....o, and one more thing. if you don't vote, don't bitch. seriously.
