Current mood: grateful
Well, I've just wrapped up another CMA Music Festival and I have to say, this one was special.
After seeing a decline in advance sales at my "Countriest of the Country" show this year, I was amazed and humbled to see so many of you turn out at the door... so many, in fact, that this year's attendance surpassed all previous years! I would dare to say that The Texas Troubadour Theater has more than likely never seen many more people! Thanks to David and the staff there for allowing us to work with you!
There were so many other things going on including one of my own personal favorites (Alan Jackson) playing downtown, not to mention the star-studded City Of Hope Softball Game. These and other events gave those who attended so many great options. I am so thankful for those of you who chose my show! You guys are absolutely the best!!!!
I also want to thank the incredible artists who offered their talents. They, too, could have been doing other things, but so generously chose this show. I really can't thank you all enough. I owe you one!
I want to offer big thanks to the band for also giving their all to see that the "Countriest of the Country" was a success. Guys, I couldn't have been prouder! Your hard work and dedication to making some great music could never go unnoticed. To the band leader, Eddie, you are a true friend! I really appreciate that extra mile!
To the songwriters who performed, it was an absolute honor to see and hear you display your talents. Even though I've been a part of the songwriting community for some time now, I'm still a fan of others and you three are among the top on my list!
The booth was also a great time at the Convention Center! With it's (unplanned) funeral home look, I was able to laugh with so many of you who stopped by. I suppose the theme should have been "COUNTRY MUSIC LIVES"... hmm...
Jutta, many don't know that you come from Germany to Nashville on your own dime, then spend most of your time sitting at the booth. All of this, you do for no money and very little recognition! I really can't thank you enough! Your love and passion for real country music is an inspiration... so, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
All of the other events including the Love of IFCO Show, The Billy Block Show, The Grand Ole Opry Fan Club Brunch, the Michael Peterson Tractor Race... all of these were special for me since they also created a great opportunity for me to be with so many of my friends (new and old).
I'll conclude by saying, after several years of doing this, I've learned that there's only one reason to continue. That reason is you, the fans! Thanks for being there!
Billy
