Current mood: grateful
Well, I've just wrapped up another CMA Music Festival and I have to say, this one was special.

After seeing a decline in advance sales at my "Countriest of the Country" show this year, I was amazed and humbled to see so many of you turn out at the door... so many, in fact, that this year's attendance surpassed all previous years! I would dare to say that The Texas Troubadour Theater has more than likely never seen many more people! Thanks to David and the staff there for allowing us to work with you!

There were so many other things going on including one of my own personal favorites (Alan Jackson) playing downtown, not to mention the star-studded City Of Hope Softball Game. These and other events gave those who attended so many great options. I am so thankful for those of you who chose my show! You guys are absolutely the best!!!!

I also want to thank the incredible artists who offered their talents. They, too, could have been doing other things, but so generously chose this show. I really can't thank you all enough. I owe you one!

I want to offer big thanks to the band for also giving their all to see that the "Countriest of the Country" was a success. Guys, I couldn't have been prouder! Your hard work and dedication to making some great music could never go unnoticed. To the band leader, Eddie, you are a true friend! I really appreciate that extra mile!

To the songwriters who performed, it was an absolute honor to see and hear you display your talents. Even though I've been a part of the songwriting community for some time now, I'm still a fan of others and you three are among the top on my list!

The booth was also a great time at the Convention Center! With it's (unplanned) funeral home look, I was able to laugh with so many of you who stopped by. I suppose the theme should have been "COUNTRY MUSIC LIVES"... hmm...

Jutta, many don't know that you come from Germany to Nashville on your own dime, then spend most of your time sitting at the booth. All of this, you do for no money and very little recognition! I really can't thank you enough! Your love and passion for real country music is an inspiration... so, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

All of the other events including the Love of IFCO Show, The Billy Block Show, The Grand Ole Opry Fan Club Brunch, the Michael Peterson Tractor Race... all of these were special for me since they also created a great opportunity for me to be with so many of my friends (new and old).

I'll conclude by saying, after several years of doing this, I've learned that there's only one reason to continue. That reason is you, the fans! Thanks for being there!

Billy

Hey, you don't have to thank me (first you're the BOSS and secondly it's my pleasure to do it) plus I wouldn't trade it for anything!
If somebody would have told me 1997 that I would become good friends with you and that your family would treat me like family...and I could run your fan club...I would have said, yeah sure...what are you dreaming of!
If I wouldn't sit in the booth I probably would be the most nerving fan you ever had coming around, around and around to stop by your booth and talk to you as I know how excited I've always been (from day 1) about your music. Smart as you are you probably saw the warning signs and thought to better let me sit in the booth and be quiet instead of having to stand me as fan visiting the booth ( I would be one of the weird one ) :)

Thanks me for letting me do it and btw I still owe you some money (don't let me forget about it)...

See ya soon,
Jutta

Billy, it was a great show. I totally enjoyed it. This was the first year I've managed to make it out, had other commitments in previous years but this year I made a decision early on that I was going to attend this, and even though I found out Alan Jackson was playing downtown for free, I still opted to go to your show. :-) It was so great seeing a few old friends, as well as meeting new ones. You have reason to be proud of the band, they were great! I was impressed. And nice bumping into you a couple times at Fan Fair too.

I know it's a LOT of work, but I hope you'll do it next year. :-)

Tracey K
