Les Paul died yesterday. I remember hearing Travis saying something about it late last night as I was dozing and I thought he must have been mistaken.

In the clarity of a new day, I now know it’s true. Still, I can barely wrap my mind around it. I don’t know how I feel or what to say; it seems impossible, as though he was a super-hero who could never die, at least not in any earthly kind of way.

I never saw any news headlines, tv or online coverage and I suppose that’s because there was no controversy or drama, just the passing of music’s greatest pioneer and inventor, the Architect of Rock and Roll.

When I doubt the saying that “one man can make a difference”, I will remember Les Paul as the ONE man who really did make that difference.

Les Paul...Yeah, alot of people think he was just some old guitar player who had a Gibson named after him...but he was much more than that. Not just an innovator in figuring out what is best to use with a pickup..."Solid Wood"...but also pioneered multi-track recording, delay, looping...the list goes on and on...and yeah Les...I want one of those "little black boxes"...

In my country there was plenty of attention for our hero! And I saw a beautiful 15 min item on CNN with great old footage of this humble man. He will NOT be forgotten!

There's a great documentary movie about Les that came out a couple years ago.  I'm sure you've seen it, but everyone should check it out.  I think it's called "Chasing Sound".
