Dear Zombies,
As you know, last year we made an attempt to make our glorious day a little special for the undead(literally) as well. The Portland Zombie Walk 2009 continues to support the Oregon Food Bank and all their efforts. By raising hunger awareness through our march and by making small donations we can continue to keep our food supply well nourished and so much tastier. So give a little. So if you are planning on walking with us this year, please make a $5 donation to the Oregon Food Bank.
Portland Zombie Walk's "FirstGiving site" show em' that We may eat brains, but we still have hearts.
You can use the link above to access the FirstGiving site, any donation amount will be appreciated. This is the busiest time of year for OFB and they have seen drastic increase in requests for emergency food boxes. The site is simple and secure to use and you can make a donation in any amount you would like. I recommend a $5 per person minimum, but if you only have $2 for food for those in need this winter, then please give the $2. Please pass this link on to friends and family. It doesn't matter if they go to the walk or not, it's for our communities. Everyone deserves their piece of the brain-pie!
It is not mandatory to donate... just extremely encouraged. So far we only have had one person donate. :(
We
will not be collecting food at the walk. Unfortunately we have never
been able to do this. I have no way of delivering the food to OFB and
they don't have the resources during this time of year to send
volunteers. Also, they can buy more food with dollar donations than we
would providing cans.
Consider a collection with your friends.
Get a group of 5 friends to donate $2 each and make up a fun name to
enter it as. Or use your costume theme ($10 from Smurfette Zombie)
Please forward this to friends and family in Oregon and Clark County, WA. and encourage those who don't live in Oregon to donate to their local food bank.
Miranda et all,
Since so many people seem to be requesting that we have another way to donate, I will be taking collections for the Oregon Food Bank right before or after the walk. Please do not give money to anyone but myself. I chose the firstgiving site because it is a secure way of making a donation. I can add the cash collected to the firstgiving site myself after the walk. But I want to make it clear, please do not give donations, weather they be cash or check (checks can be made out to Oregon Food Bank directly), to anyone but myself. If you give your donation to someone other than myself I am not responsible of what happens to it. You will be able to see your donation on the first giving site a day after the walk. Please include your name(optional) and any message you would like me to post in your name (optional).
Thank you!
The walk is on the 24th. at 3:45pm. Please forward any bulletins to your friends. We would like this to be as fun and as big as last year!
