JACKSON TAYLOR BAND
“Write what you know” – this particular adage aptly describes the songs of Jackson Taylor. He writes about life--his life from the happy times to the moments of frustration and sorrow. Jackson combines his tales of life with traditional elements of country music, southern rock and a tinge of punk. His lust for living is apparent in his lyrics. Jackson sings about outlaws, drifters and passion and of course there are songs about whiskey, even one dedicated to Jim Beam. He also does a great cover of Billy Joe Shaver’s “Honky-Tonk Heroes”. The music is fueled by guitars – both Gibson & Fender and the resulting sound is fat. This is real music for real people – just make sure you bring your dancin’ shoes!
BILLY JOE WINGHEAD
Oklahoma City/Tulsa rockers Billy Joe Winghead have been on the scene for a decade, offering up their brand of boisterous rock & roll to bar patrons, punk clubs and bowling allies alike. The music is heavy on the guitar, bass and drums, but it also incorporates the unique sci-fi sounds of the theremin. The lyrics are hilarious, some even verge on being devoutly profane. Billy JoeWinghead is loud, trashy and vulgar and also entertaining as hell. Although they’re brash and raucous, they’re also unpretentious and from their live show it’s obvious that they are dedicated to having a great time.
The R.I.P. TIDES
The R.I.P. Tides ride the high wave of both surf and turf with their style of Rockabilly and country. The band hails from Oklahoma City and plays original tunes as well as classic covers by the Ventures and Hank Sr. Think vintage hollow body electric guitars, reverb and thumping upright bass! Think slicked back hair, hot cars and cold beer! Think motorcycles, tats and Surfabilly! The foursome features T.J. Mayes (vocals & guitar) and Greg Burnett, who burns up the lead guitar riffs. Kyle Hawkins (Bass) and Derek Dugger (Drums) provide a tight rhythm section. Whether you like dancing or not, the energy and songs of the R.I.P. Tides will definitely pull you out on to the dance floor.
