Interview with Dj SKYNET:
Programmming music for party people is what this guy is all about. Creating a positive message thru a journey of bass laced rythm of all E.D.M. styles. It is his creed and mantra as stated on his site. Currently working in his home studio the Bass Bin with a plethora of artist. Saty tuned as 09 will b prove this is one bad mammer-jammer. Here now, the mind of SKYNET:
1) How did you get your intro into techno / intro as a dj? In a nut shell, my friends handed me keoki Disco Death Race cd and said check this out –he is playing at a Club in Tampa and we are friends with the owners/ djs/ bouncers, If you like it! Come check it out with us. We can get you in underage. Being open minded I went and fell instantly in love with the music/ atmosphere and people and of course went to more clubs. While partying at Club Moongate in ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />....Florida.... the promoter from Love and Light came over and was like we have to close it's 6:00am and we are out of djs. Nobody wanted to leave including me, So I said I will do it and was very successful at it. A month later I owned my own tables, a set of respectable tunes and practiced every nite with my party friends who happen to be established Rave Djs, event holders and club owners. The rest is history...:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />....

2) What keeps YOU inspired to make/ play electronic dance music even though the competition is tough and the pay is short? I would have to say exactly that – I did not get into music to make a million bucks (but it would not hurt) and I am very competitive –as I am often the winner J. Also the music inspires me and I like to share it with all my party people. Even though most of it is rips of old music – it is always new and fresh weekly, does that make sense?....

3) Who would you like to collaborate with? Always has been Dj Afco! As I know for a fact he lives and loves the music the same as I do. But I have new music coming out with many new and old names in the biz. I like all styles so it is easy for me to collaborate with just about everyone– the real question is if they can stand working with my experimental way of learning and doing things. ....

4) Do you worry about your music appearing on file sharing websites and applications? I don't pay much attention to those sites. It may be on their – I don't know. If people really wanted my music and asked me for it, I would give it to them anyway. ....

5) Djing or Producing? Thats a tough 1_ I have been immersed in running True Skool Music which takes up a lot of time and energy but it pays off when I make a sick track that moves the dance floor and all the djs are running to the booth to find out what it is. or a remix for someone turns out right – the way I heard it. But I just picked up a Hard Drive mixer and have really been on the mark- blown the doors off the venues lately. This thing has all my favorite toys on it and is what I have always wanted. I have fallen in love with djing all over again _ thanks Denon. ....

6) Breaks or House? I play E.D.M. period_ I love and have 100's of styles in my digital and vinyl collection. I would say I am more track specific and hate that the scene and most djs are so narrow these days. But it all depends on the audience and reading a floor as well. In my early days Afco and I played the sickest 4 table Happy Hardcore Set in ....Florida.... and the crowed hated us as all the other djs played breaks. But I remember one guy in the crowd that knew the music. He came up to us and said he was very impressed and that he would try to get us shows in the ..Midwest... ....

7) Many people are saying 2009 will be a big year for dance music, any tips for who you think will be big in the next 12 months? I picked up a cd by this guy Dave Seaman over the holidays_ it's the sickest mixing and track selection I have heard in awhile. Also I am always looking for shows with Keoki he never lets u down. As far as newbies check out quadrat on 13breaks label. Their new track Hive Inside is in my box. ....
.. ..
8) Buying or selling vinyl? Definitely buying! Although I play digitally now, I am a vinyl junkie – still collecting and I am happy to be getting all the shit on my list. Also I have plans to press some True Skool Music to vinyl soon. Digital just takes some of the risk out as a label owner. I wonder what would happen too all the digital in a serious Y2K come to life? ....
