Current mood:  disgusted
Category: Art and Photography
Those of you know, if I'm going to blog, I post personal ones on my personal myspace page.
But this issue, has a specific point pointed at photographers, so as an art page where mainly artists will view this, I figured, I'll share it on here, even if it risks pissing a few people off. If it does, they don't need to be a part of my buisness. Thank you.

Now my main thing is something I very clearly stated in a brief bulletin I posted earlier. Considering bulletins get overlooked very easy, and because I felt so strongly to state this, I decided I might as well post it as a blog.

PHOTOGRAPHERS, or those of you who consider yourself one, get over yourselves. I had a conve..rsati..on yeste..rday that remin..ded me of how many photo..graph..ers are out there.. to compe..te and make other.. photo..graph..ers feel like thier.. art is nothi..ng

For any of you photo..graph..ers who go out, findi..ng other.. photo..graph..ers whose.. "..photo.. quali..ty" or "..newne..ss to the buisn..ess" makes.. you feel like you have the right.. to talk down to them,.. Shame.. on you. Your in the buisn..ess for the wrong.. reaso..ns.

Back when I was very early into the photography scene, even before I started taking photos of models, I had a dumb point and shoot. I carried it everywhere and took so many photos. I sold some photos and called myself an amature photographer for many months. I was confronted by a man who told me to stop calling myself a amature. "Once you sold a photo, you are a pro" he told me. Because of that, I was so encouraged, I am who I am today. I never looked back.

Really, who cares about the labels of pro, semi pro and amature. Are you in it for the status? No. I will state this many times, if you see someone in it for the right reasons, age, status and everything else does not matter. Your messing with someones heart by talking down to them. What he did, along with many people who crossed my paths in life, helped me not let what the other people said to discourage me, bother me.

Photo..graph..y is an art, not just a buisn..ess. Your takin..g yours..elf to serio..usly... Telli..ng peopl..e that thier.. art is nothi..ng, or calli..ng someo..ne who has done nothi..ng to you unpro..fessi..onal when you know they worke..d thier.. ass of on thier.. work,.. makes.. YOU unpro..fessi..onal and I think.. you need to leave.. the buisn..ess, now.

To those.. of you into photo..graph..y for the fun, art and thera..py of it all, Kudos... Encou..rage,.. bless.. and help all you fello..w artis..ts, toget..her. Share.. your knowl..edge with the new peopl..e, encou..rage them.I alway..s found.. art as a thera..py to me, not a "job"

NOW THE MEAT OF THIS BLOG ENTRY..!!!

I'm going to ENCOURAGE the new photographers, the old photographers, the pros .. and amature.. by telling you to PLEASE.. check out these wonderful new and experianced photographers who deserve a pat on the back..

(i apologize if i offend anyone for not putting you on the list, its not because I dont like you, I just have to many to list so I selected just a couple randomly)

----

Erica (LITTLE GREEN SHOES PHOTOGRAPHY)- Local to my town, only 16, but does wonderful work. I wish I picked up a camera when I was her age and did it as well

www.myspace.com/pixiephotographygirl

---

Kendra- Also local, also 17. Good work, I can't find her art page, or I just don't remember if she has one, but check her out and ask her about her art

---

Steph (CWC photography)- We shared alot of mutual ideas an interests at art and helped each other for a while persue it. She has a talent for bands that I never persued out of fear.

---

Sarah(WORSHIP ME PHOTOGRAPHY)-- She actually started out modeling for me, (glamour in the snow) and picked up a camera shortly after herself. Give her a look, you might like what ya see.

awww thank you taylor!
its soo true
there's also another thing i really hate, i got into an
argument one time with a girl
because i took a picture for my friend jake where it was just him
and his friends smiling and having a good time
and she was all "whats the point of this picture, its stupid".

It really bugs the crap out of me when people dont see the real
meaning behind a picture anymore, especially on myspace.

Its all about "looking sexy, or trying to impress your friends"
grrrr lol

and i dont think kendra has her page anymore, but i wish you
could see all the new works she's been doing
their amazing! :]

Yeah, I hate insecure jerks, too. Seems like some people just aren't happy unless they're making other people unhappy. I'm glad you don't let what morons think affect your self-image.
Keep doin' that awsome photo thing you do! :)

Thanks! I myself am into photography for the therapy it brings me, as well as for my love of art and capturing the world on film. I don't do it to make money or to be considered a "pro.
" I've had several people comment on my photos in a positive manner (smushyhippo. deviantart. com), while others have bee downright rude. Sure, I appreciate constructive criticism, but there's no need to talk down to someone as if they were beneath you.

Pretty cool of you to do shout outs. I agree.. Photographers are overly competitive. I think because of competition the so called "pros" only bring people down because they fear losing clients, money, or status. It's protection... sometimes a photographer has to be careful what they do and say for the protection of copy right and business...from experience I have had enough stolen from me... But instead of getting pissed and hateful... I have had to changed my style several times... But I have to be happy that I was an inspiration and it was a sign to move on and take on a new challenge. I think it's good that we have so many photographers. Everyone has an opinion, everyone has different taste, everyone has a different idea, every photographer has a different goal. If it wasn't for all the diversity we wouldn't have Art that speaks.. we would just have... well... photos. It is very immature to judge others work. If a photographer feels that someone needs to work on something particular then they can give advice... but not in a "my photo is better than yours" kind of way. The person receiving the advice should take the advice and do what they want with it.. it's your art... do what you want. Anyway... good luck in all you do.

Photography for me is like my journal. I agree with you on so many levels. Its an art, an expression, a release for certain people. I dont think there is a point that you can say "you're a true photographer" because who decides that anyways? Thank god I found a camera one day because I cant sing, draw, dance, write, or even talk for that matter. Its my release, my passion.
:) Go girl! -Linds

THANK YOU!
I LOATHE the photographers who think they're so badass because their work is good.
It's a love for the art that makes a good photographer, not only the quality of the prints!

I send a middle finger out to each and every one who's ever tried to squash you, too, because it's truly obnoxious.

When you come out here (Steven said something about July?) we should all go out to my little place in Sedona/Flagstaff and shoot like hell. There's a spot out there I've not yet explored (le gasp!!) that is supposedly photography paradise.

And we can also push the other 'professionals' off the rocks :D
