Have you ever seen the movie "The Matrix"? I find it ironic it has a story line quite similar to the battle for souls. How do you ask? Well in the beginning Keanu Reeves is looking for something, he has a feeling in his inner most being that something is not "right" with the world and all is not as it seems. He keeps searching and then he is contacted, given a pill and "wakes up" to what is really going on around him. The world in which he is "living" is not real, actually it is not a reality at all, but a clever cover up to hide what is really going on. The people around him are living their daily lives not even aware what is going on beyond what their senses can not yet tell them. If he were to tell them what is really going on, they would laugh and carry on with out a blink of an eye, thinking he was crazy or out of his mind. He himself does not want to believe it's real. But then comes to his senses and realizes what is truly at stake…..souls and the human race..
We find our selves in quite the same similar situation when it comes to God. The human race finds itself searching for "something else" as Keanu did in The Matrix. When someone comes to us and talks about Salvation and hell we look at them and think they are crazy. Why? Because we are living only with our natural senses. We don't believe a spiritual world exists because just like The Matrix our senses don't tell us it's real. The creatures try to kill Keanu in the Matrix and lead him astray, because they are trying to stop him from doing what he was designed to do, save the existing souls of the human race.
We are living in much the same way. Only instead of creatures generated by a machine, we have creatures controlled by the devil (lucifer, satan, prince of darkness, what ever you want to call him). The creatures try to kill us spiritually because they are a part of the spiritual world, they know what is at stake, the human soul. There is a hell and if you don't accepted Christ (be born again spiritually) and walk out your salvation, you will receive eternal damnation.
As in the Matrix, if our natural senses can be occupied or tricked then we never really seek the spiritual awakening as Keanu did in The Matrix. And even when we first receive our spiritual awakening from God once we are saved, we can hardly believe what has been going on, and we can't believe we didn't notice it before. And like Keanu we stand in a stunned awe of what has just happened.
As humans we were designed to love and worship God, and to spread his Gospel to the world. However, satan knows if he can keep us only living with our 5 senses then he can trick us into not really full filling what we were designed to do. We stop at what our natural senses tell us, instead of looking out our spiritual senses and continuing to do God's work.
Behind the scenes of our natural world there is a spiritual world very much a live and at work. Only until we accept Christ, receive Salvation and walk out our Salvation do we wake up and realize what is truly at stake….souls and the human race for eternity.
