Well, not really. But, we have decided as a band to lose the WARM GUNS label.

***Admin note- first off, from here on out, whenever on a showbill the listing simply says LAURIS VIDAL- it means full band. As well, whenever I am playing solo it will distinguish "solo" on the listing. I like this.

Why lose the WARM GUNS title? YOU ASK, well, lots of reasons.

-The main being for the future and the now- my name suffices. have you noticed everyone is "Joe Rawka and the blah blah blahs"? As a band we really see no reason to be included in this trend. No pretense about it, we'd just rather have more of a classic, timeless quality to the band name than a hip tag line. Many people think LAURIS VIDAL is a made up band name and not my name anyway, and we like that. It is actually a rather awesomely made up name that happens to originate with my gramma giving it to my father and later proliferated by my parents giving it to me. As a band, we're comfortable with the music and the band identity being known as LAURIS VIDAL. when you get to know us, you'll see there are actually 3 unique personalities in that name.....kinda like gobstoppers- MANY layers in those little things.

- The WARM GUNS imagery- well, as many have deduced, the WARM GUNS title comes from the ironic BEATLES line "Happiness is a warm gun, mamma" I just love that line. I was going to name my band happiness and the warm guns, but a brief gooogle shows a myriad of bands with that name as well, it is kinda goofy.

-Once again, the imagery- in this day and age who needs more WARM GUNS? Guns are everywhere- the name has imagery and connotations that can be interpreted by anyone to mean anything, yet also is very directly associated. We would rather not be associated with a machine designed to kill. By simple word and imagery association, it will always be associated with a gun, or many. This is something that in our opinion, is not really what we are trying to accomplish.

-The western/country/americana feel associated with the name. If you've seen me/us- there is some Americana feel to our music, but this isn't really our GENRE. We reach far and wide outside of a formulaic genre. And we're only going to grow more and more in and outside of that area.

So, these are a few reasons that we're walking away with our backs to the WARM GUNS title.

We're always interested in what y'all think, what your opinions on the subject are and such.

Keep your eyes peeeled kids.....there's a bright future on that beautiful horizon and we are excited to share these times with you.

be well, thank you for your time, love and encouragement, i can't wait to celebrate this life with you!! Lauris

Hey Lauris, I'm with you all the way! And as one who has fallen trap to using the gun imagery on posters for the OM Bar support you all 100%. Out with the guns, in with the amazing music and 3 super cool musicans. We always have a blast when you guys come out.
Great music, great people! You are still the only band that makes be round the bar and gawk with my mouth open at the music you play! Can't wait to have you back in April!

Preach it, and I'm with ya! But, is "Lauris Vidal and the Gobstoppers" totally out of the question? What ever you call it, your music is multi-layered, timeless and everlasting! Lauris Vidal's Sonic Gobstopper! There you go--I'm feelin it!
