You know music is a wonderful world, where would we be without it ? It can make you happy or sad, make a memory easier to remember or get you through some rough times, yes it is part of our lives. For those starting out the thoughts after hearing that great song by someone makes you think God I would love to write a song like that, and we have all thought that at some point.A starter or a pro no matter how big a star, loves to hear their friends and fans give their approval to something they have done in their musical offerings. If you are a musician,a solo artist or in a band, when starting out you will have the nights where the crowd is very small but go on, give it your best,I know that it sure takes alot to stay upbeat but those people that are there usually want to hear what you are all about(you never know who is listening). Now this brings me to how did you get to perform at this venue in the first place.Well,if you are unknown,it's hard to perform all your own music so no doubt you can only sneak a few of your own tunes in, the rest will have to be cover songs, this is where you will get your experience of the world of performing for live audience's.When you get that" big gig" know your stuff, have it together, look good or the part, it all helps but it's your own music that will count in the end.Now on the internet there is so much music and different types. There are hundreds of sites where you can put your songs for people to listen to or download, this is a great start.Eveyone needs a base and depending how far you want to take your musical career,it sure is a great way to start. If your starting out get those photo's and bio's and songs recorded and put them out there, people love to hear and see what you are all about. The world of music for singers, bands, songwriters is not an easy one, there are many roadblocks, ups and downs. We all would love to write great songs and be the next super star on a major label, but in reality only a few will get that far and have their music remembered forever. It doesn't matter as long as your happy and touch some others with your songs, the old saying a big fish in a small pond.We all have our ponds and dreams, ever been to a house party or at a beach party, boy when the guitar or guitars come out it's surprising the songs you will remember words to and the fun you always have. You need a fan base, someone who will listen and in my thinking what better way then using the internet to it's full extent. The musicians you will meet old and new have some super music out there and they all have the same thing in common,"music".Small town,Big city, the world of music has no bounds, work hard and you will see the value.Don't give up your dreams,we are listening.

Well said Art! It really is all about hanging in once you've made the choice. The price is high but the rewards outweigh the difficulties. What other businees can two guys like you and I , who've never met, share a common understanding like this one.
i bet if we met on the street tomorrow withinh ten minutes it would be like we'd known each other for years. The stories and experiences are the same just different dates and names.
It truly is a noble calling and one I'm proud to have answered and will continue til I die!
Peace to you my friend and keep rockin'!
Don

We'd all love to sell more product, make more money. I have boxes of my CD's taking up space in the garage and I wonder if I will ever see the day when they're all sold. I've often thought that I must be kidding myself to consider recording another CD of original tunes but then you get an e-mail from someone you've never met on the other side of the world telling you how much your song has touched their life in some way and it's then you realise.....hey, there's a reason right there. Like you say, we all have our own ponds and the internet has given independent artists an incredible opportunity to take their music to the world and grow their own fan base. Great blog, Art. Keep up the good work, mate.

Cheers,
Rob :)
