Three days into our short Washington/Oregon tour and we've landed in Raymond. Travis is searching the fridge as Dave drives the coach. Frank and Travis are cruising the van ahead of us. So far the tour has been great. The weather has been beautiful and everything is green. I'm hoping to arrive home and be greeted by the same.
Wednesday night we played Mississippi Pizza in Portland with Adam Sweeney. They were sans drummer which mellowed their set, but didn’t take away from the quality of the songs. It was a small, intimate stage and venue. The crowd was reserved but supportive. The pizza was delicious. Through that show, we were connected to Burnside Distribution, met with them the next morning and signed on with them! Hooray!!!!
Thursday night found us in Tacoma, hometown of Neko Case and Justin Davis. Must be something special in the water. We played Bob's Java Jive, which obviously is shaped like a tea pot. It was my favorite kind of bar. Divey, grungy and black light paintings everywhere. Not to mention fantastic animal painting, pictures, statues of all kinds. The stage, again was small, as well as the crowd, but they were more enthusiastic and loving! Some came after seeing us in Oly and brought along some new folk. I had a great time playing, it got spastic at points but that's where the fun is.
I'm looking forward to the next two nights of shows! I can't wait for Eugene! Molly Templeton wrote a beautiful review in The Eugene Weekly! www.eugeneweekly.com/2009/04/23/music1.html Hopefully we can pack the house at Sam Bond's Garage!! So come on out folks, I promise you, it's worth it!!!
