Terrapin Flyer with Tom Constanten
10th Anniversary Show
w/special guests Cosmic Railroad
It was 10 years ago that a Grateful Dead jam at Boulevard Cafe in Logan Square began and shortly thereafter led to the concept and formation of Terrapin Flyer. Over the past 10 years Terrapin Flyer has featured a revolving cast of ....Chicago....'s finest talent as well as some of the best players in the music world. From the associations which started at the weekly jam night to subsequent tours with Grateful Dead keyboardists Vince Welnick, Tom Constanten, Bob Bralove and Jerry Garcia Band organist Melvin Seals, the band has showcased a who's who of local and national talent.
The tour will be covering three states and will be stopping at the Miramar Theater in Milwaukee WI, The Kinetic Playground in Chicago, IL and Founders Brewing in Grand Rapids, MI. The shows will feature Members of Terrapin Flyer as well as one time Grateful Dead keyboardist and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Tom Constanten (www.tomconstanten.com). Constanten, who just finished the 40th Anniversary of Woodstock tour, performed with the Grateful Dead during it's most creative and experimental period from 1968-1970. He performed with them at ....Woodstock.... as well as on the Anthem of the Sun, Aoxomoxoa and Live Dead albums. Aside from his time in the Grateful Dead he spent a year as an Artist in Residence at ....Harvard.. ..University.... and studied around the world with some of the most avant garte composers of the 20th century like Karlheinz Stockhausen and Pierre Boulez. Join Terrapin Flyer and Tom Constanten as they rollick through a nostalgic looking glass of the past 10 years of jams.
Terrapin Flyer is pleased to have as special guests at this show south eastern ....Wisconsin.... based jamband Cosmic Railroad (www.cosmicrailroad.com). As Patrick Fineran from the Racine Journal Times puts it “if you like the Dead, Phish, older Dave Matthews and bands like that..(Cosmic Railroad) may be what you looking for." He also adds “the Cosmic Railroad has been laying down the deepest hippie groove since 1999 and it doesn’t look like its going to stop any time soon”. Make sure to get there early on 11/6 and check out this great band.
