Last night Tom Waits' long anticipated Glitter and Doom tour kicked off in Phoenix AZ.  As expected, the "P" in "PEHDTSCHJMBA" was treated to the one-in-a-lifetime experience of newly arranged classics, recent favorites and mirrored bowler hats.  The early reviews have been stellar:

I drove to see him in Memphis and Cleveland....great shows in '06....The Dallas crowd will suck...I know that...becuase i live here.....The Tulsa show will be better....I am sure. I am going to Houston, Dallas and Tulsa....so excited!!! Even if the fans of Dallas act silly...it will still be a good show!!!

What an amazing show! Well worth the long drive and the ridiculous Phoenix weather, but I hope next time Tom considers bringing the audience to California instead. San Diego misses him.

Come to Lafayette, Louisiana next time. They have live gators in open "habitats" in the middle of their university, UL Lafayette. Swear to God! And you can perform at the Cajundome, where RAW is sometimes filmed. Now, I ask you, who can beat that??

I saw Tom Waits in El Paso on 6/20. It was an amazing life-changing show.

My only complaint would be all the heckling and "song requests" every time there was a pause in the music. Tom is a genius, with a masterful set list and a show full of theater, not some lounge lizard at Tiny's on karaoke night. For the hecklers: your need to hear Martha does not transcend everyone else's need to hear the show.

Thanks for a great night to Tom and his band. If I could, I'd attend every single show on this tour.

And Tom, have you used the key to Chuco's doors yet?

I wish I could go to a concert of his, but Waits doesn't come close enough to CT for my Ma to let me go. It sucks to be underage, but at least I can still buy the cds. Tom Waits rocks!

Hey fans tonights the last night in HotLanta !!!!!

I was honored to see him in Dallas and it was fantastic and contrary to the previous posting by a Dallas resident it was a great show and a great crowd. The Venue was hot and it was standing room general admin so that was a little strange for a Waits show

I also went to St Louis.....beautiful theater there. Tom changed his set list up between these two shows and I have to say the Dallas show was far better set list wise.

Tom and band mates were killer both places and it was cool to see him again.

I saw him for four nights in NYC @ the Beacon Theater on his last tour (long ago) and that will forever be my most favorite Waits run of shows.

I took two different Waits virgins to each of the Dallas and St Louis shows....both folks were forever changed into Waits heads.

Enjoy Europe Tom !!!!!

Tom's been my favorite performer for the past 10 years. I was exposed to him much earlier, when I was in college and my roommate was buying his LPs, but he freaked me out then. I hit my 30s and Waits just clicked for me. Apparently I had to be kicked around by life a bit before I could appreciate him. Anyway, I am really happy for all the raindoggies who are getting the opportunity to see him this year! I can't go but I did see him at the Beacon in NYC in September 1999 and it was The. Most. Amazing! performance I have ever seen, exquisite theater. Have fun everyone!

Sucks that I missed the show(even though I had a free ticket through a friend but couldn't get out of work), but it doesn't suck that Waits has made what he's made.
