It seems like forever since I last had time to really work on music. Too much focusing my attention on eating and such mundane things. Legend has been on hold while we wait for the album to be released. We're looking into doing a show at Heaven and Hell in DC with Metrorail, a sister band with several shared members to get things rolling again. The CD is basically done, and and booklet is about 75% there. I hear we have a cover painting finally, but I haven't actually seen it yet.
I started putting down some tracks for a few more Screw the Bastards tunes this past week, Little Pink Particles and Frames (Milo III) got some drums, and I'm back at the keys putting together the frameworks for Sirens and Afterture (Milo IV and VI). I have been playing guitar again, mostly puttting togerther rhythm parts for Milo 5, which has gotten mushy for me. I was never quite satisfied with how the original demo came out, so I'm going to go further out on this one than I would have with a band.... but then again I can do that now, can't I :) I find my self foreshadowing Seventh Sun a lot, and Jay and I have discussed working on that again, starting recordings with just the two of us and building from there. That project will make Screw the Bastards seem primitive, which in some ways it is. I might have a preview of that for you soon.
As some of you know, I've been surviving of late by hosting Karaoke. I sing a few tunes, mostly Beatles and Kashmir, but mostly I just run sound and announce things. I started out loathing karaoke intensely, but occasionally I can "cheat" and bring out my backing tracks and sing Lady Godiva or someting, and drunks can be highly amusing at times. It's definitely helping me keep my voice in shape. I'm at the Sobe grill in Arlington on Saturday nights regularly, plus a lot of random places with short notice the rest of the time. I'm going to put up a seperate myspace page for that in the near future. I'll even bring my flute if I know people will be coming to hear it.
I've been looking in to other areas of online promotion, and I encourage eveyone to check out Reverbnation. I like their setup quite a bit... especially the tune widget.... which I'm posting here next.
