So "blog" is short for web log? I guess that makes sense. Web log doesn't exactly roll of the tounge. A new word. Technology has certainly put the language evolution in high gear. Seems that every day there are literally hundreds of new words added to the languages of the world. That's ok but it seems like it sort of gets in the way of communication. For some reason my friends and family think I know more about computers than they do so I get a lot of calls for advice when something doesn't work right. You know there is a serious communications gap when you have to ask a 40 year old friend to put their 15 year old child on the line to help them set up an e-mail account. Too much stuff. Too many new words. Too many new buttons. It's more than most want to even try to comprehend. And that's too bad. Lots of redundancy. Every developer wants to come up with a "catch word" for their product to signify it's unique properties even if it's just a re-hash of something that's been around for years. Any idea how many terms there are for usb ram drives? Jump drive, flash drive, thumb drive, travel drive, etc........ Probably 20 words that mean the same thing. The bad part is that a lot of people just won't tolerate the terminology breakdown. People are running away from devices and systems that could really benefit them just because they are scorched by the goofy terminology. There's a limit to how much we are willing to digest to use these modern miracles. That limit is too much stuff.
