Hello everyone,
Firstly I'd like to say how refreshing it is to be writing a blog that isn't entitled "Immercia are seeking a new guitarist", instead this entry is rather more positive. After months of uncertainty where the right people needed to make this band happen didn't seem to exist we finally found all the ingredients we need to get Immercia happening once more. We've now had a solid line-up now for 4 whole months and it's the best this band has ever felt, hands down. This is now phase 5, 6 or 7 of Immercia and with constant rehearsals and song writing sessions we've all learned how to compose, play and maybe most importantly laugh together. Because of this we have really enjoyed compiling nearly an entire brand new set which we feel is by far our strongest material to date. This probably goes some way towards explaining how the hell we managed to win The Twist's Battle of the Band competition on Christmas Eve. With 32 bands entering the heats and us only having literally one or two gigs together and really only half a set prepared to gig with we didn't feel as confident as maybe we could have done. Luckily between every round we managed to get back to the practise room and finish a new song to play in the next upcoming show, this risky strategy got us through to the final on December 24th where we found ourselves up against three other bands from the Colchester and Ipswich area. We played first and even though we felt our set went well we became more and more unsure as to what the outcome would be as the other bands took to the stage. The result was announced around midnight and I think everyone that was there would agree it was a very tense room. Underline The Sky were announced as runners up shortly followed by ourselves as winners. Our prize was £1000 and 3 days free studio time where we'll get the EP down that we're now ready to record. There are now a couple of pics of us acting a bit silly in our photos section taken from the night. It was a great way to end the year for us, we now plan to make 2009 a very busy year and see what happens for us next.
We'd all like to say a big thanks to everyone we've played with this year and the people that have come to our gigs and shown us love through comments etc. It's all much appreciated, hopefully see you all at gigs again in '09!!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
