Lindsay Cox Tuesday November 11, 6-8pm Pit Theatre, Footscray Arts
Lindsay will speak about his community based approach to work and will present a selection of works from recent years, as well as current works created during his Residency at Footscray Arts. He will go into detail about creating animated cut-out music videos and working with the complexity of stop motion models.
Lindsay Cox originally studied Scientific Photography at RMIT, then worked as a Medical Photographer before studying at RMIT AIM Centre for Animation and Interactive Media. He has produced short films, animations utilising traditional and new techniques in the workshop, and has worked in nightclubs as a VJ. Highlights in VJ work include two one-month VJ residencies at Taipei’s biggest club, Luxy-Taipei mixing live visuals for a range of international and local DJ acts including Q-Bert, Bad Boy Bill, Dub Pistols, James Zabiela and Paul van Dyk.
Arts projects have included (2005/06) directing and creating short animated educational videos for the Department of Justice and Department of Human Services, (2006/07) Artist-in-School at Collingwood College and Woorana Primary School Dandenong as Animator/Film maker (creating short digital stories), (2005) Animation based residency at Melbourne Aquarium. (2004) A 6 minute composited puppet animation for SBS TV’s ‘World Tales’ and (2004) a two month DFAT visual arts residency in Taipei, Taiwan culminating in a scooter based public video projection project.
Lindsay recently finished 6 months work as a model maker / animation assistant on the new Adam Elliot stop motion feature film ‘Mary & Max’.

Footscray Arts is located on the Maribyrnong river bicycle path, which crosses the Footscray Road bicycle path from the Melbourne city.
