Current mood:Its blues time
Category: Music
The curse of the pigskin strikes again.  Thankfully, we had a good crowd for the Bob Margolin and Cedric Burnside & Lightnin' Malcolm double header. That was every bit as good as we thought it would be.  The band members struck a chord among themselves and turned in a rafter rattling night of blues.  It concluded with an all out jam with the entire entourage taking the corner stage including both Cedric Burnside and Chuck Cotton on the drums at the same time.  The energy and talent was amazing. I would make more double booking mistakes if we could afford it.

Ben Robinson done good on Saturday night despite a small crowd. A whiz on the guitar with a soulful voice.  This young man has a future ahead of him.
We battle the pigskin demons  again this weekend with a Get Down on Friday and a noon kick-off on Saturday.  We have a good match up, too.

On Friday, Sept. 25,  its mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the bluest of them all? Well, its Beautiful Bobby Blackmon & The B3 Blues Band, returning to the BBC! This 4 piece is fronted by Bobby Blackmon whose silky smooth soulful vocals and solid but understated guitar are a perfect match for the jook. Bobby's blues are influenced by his southern Texas roots and Florida home which produce a blended style of rootsy blues, deep south soul, smooth R&B and funky danceable rhythms. He's an accomplished songwriter, singer, gifted guitar player and entertainer who gave up his steady me white collar job to pursue his blues passion. . He's backed up by longtime band members Smilin' Jack Bumgarner on vocals and keyboards and Curtis "Funky Foot" Nutall on drums and vocals, with Mike "Thumper" Simms rounding out the rhythm section on bass.  Living Blues said that "Blackmon sounds as if he's wailing his tale from a dark corner of a whiskey scented juke". Well the BBC ain't got whiskey but we sho' nuff have the scent of decades of beer wafting through the joint!  Come on out, take in some blues, do some dancin', eat some fish and laze around the bonfire.  More, including  music and video at:  http://www.myspace.com/beautifulbobbyblackmon .  Showtime is 9:30.  Tickets are $12 in advance at www.bradfordvilleblues.com and for students and members of any blues organization or with an FSU/FAMU game ticket.  Day of show tickets are $14 for all others.  Anyone who bought tickets for Liz Mandeville can use them for
Bobby or another (non-special) show, or we'll refund your purchase price.

On Saturday, Sept. 26, the club's favorite son, Johnnie Marshall & The Johnnie Marshall Blues Band bring their party home! . What more can we say about Johnnie--its always down home partyin' blues, big crowds, big fun, and lots of shakin' tail feathers. Johnnie gets the crowd goin' like no other. The dancers and Johnnie feed off each other creating an energy level that gets stronger as the night goes on. Providing the rhythm are long time band member smilin' Chris Thomas on drums and the hard drivin', funky, bottom of  Ed "Mo" Lanier on bass.  Jeff may accompany Johnnie again blowin' his Mississippi sax for added fun! There's a reason these guys are the club favorite   Get your tickets early 'cause Johnnie usually sells out. It jus' doesn't get any more fun than this. It all starts at 9:30 . Advance tickets are $13 and tickets and reservations are available at http://www.bradfordvilleblues.com Cover on the day of show is $15. Students, members of any blues organization, and anyone with an FSU game day ticket get in for $13 at the door.
