Its has been a topsy turvy October with schedule changes and the never ending flu bug. Eddie Shaw cancelled on Saturday because of transportation problems. Pepper Drive and The Blues Disciples reprised their Friday show at the Legion Hall and rocked the place. We can't thank them enough. Duke Robillard on Friday showed why is considered one of the best blues and jazz guitar players in the country. He never ceases to amaze me. Grasstowne on Sunday played to a sparse sun splashed crowd. Mighty fine picking and harmonizing. Well, Halloween is upon us and we're ready for some mojo, gris gris and costumes.
The Annual Tally Awards are now taking place. Hey folks-- It's that time of year again to vote for your favorite Night Life & Entertainment venue in the Tally (People's Choice) Awards. We've got the crown jewel of the blues in our back yard. Musicians love playing at the BBC because of its uniqueness and, not surprisingly, because we have some of the best blues fans a band can play for. The BBC won the award in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 (many, many thanks to our customers) and we'd love to keep it in the house for 2009! Cast your vote at http://www.thetallyawards.com/tallyawards/vote/category/1026 You can find out more information on the Tally Awards and also vote for your other favorite businesses at http://www.thetallyawards.com/ The voting ends December 15. Vote now and spread the word!

The Stacy Mitchhart Band makes an encore performance on Friday, Oct. 30. Stacy is an accomplished guitarist, slide guitarist, singer, songwriter and entertainer who produces a big show and a big sound with his 6 piece ensemble. Stacy and the band move across the contemporary blues spectrum with Nashville flair. Stacy and the band have been the house band at BB King's in Nashville for about 10 years, earning the reputation as one of the most popular live acts in the city. They venture out of Nashville to play other BB King venues and are stopping at the BBC on their way home from BB King's in Orlando. Stacy's national reputation includes numerous television appearances on PBS, TBS, HBO and Monday Night Football. His accolades include awards from the Memphis Blues Society for: "Blues Entertainer of the Year" ; "Blues Male Vocalist of the Year" ; "Blues Guitarist of the Year" ; "Electric Blues Act of the Year"; and "Acoustic Blues Act of the Year". Stacy also was awarded the "Albert King Most Promising Guitarist Award" at the Blues Foundation's International Blues Challenge in Memphis. As you might expect from a Nashville based band, Stacy is backed by stellar musicians including Jules Caldarera - saxophones, vocals; Emanual Cole -bass, vocals; Darin James - drums; Cory Distefano - trumpet, flugelhorn, keyboards and vocals and Paul Brown -keyboards and vocals. Paul has also recorded with and produced two Bobby Rush cd's, and has performed with music legends Eric Clapton, Al Green, Shirley Brown, the Bar-Kays and Betty Lavette. On Halloween, Memphis based Victor Wainwright & The WildRoots make their first BBC appearance as a unit. Dress to kill or at least to maim! Win free beer for spooky, sexy, scary costumes! Victor has played the BBC twice as part of a dueling duo of the weighted 88's with the Rev. Billy C. Wirtz. Each time he left folks amazed at what they had seen. Victor is an astonishingly talented piano player, organist, vocalist, harp player, songwriter and arranger. He can whip the keys into a Jerry Lee Lewis inspired barrelhouse rag, add some 'Nawlin's funk ala Fats Domino, break into a soulful Ray Charles medley, ease it on down to some inspiring Gospel, mix up some jazz, throw in some classics and hit the gas with some high octane rock 'n roll. This ain't hype. It ain't goat feathers. Victor is truly a gifted musician who puts it all together in an amazing display of energy, soul and stage presence. And, he's only 28--with a promising career ahead of him. He's backed up by a sterling rhythm section of co-writer Stephen 'Cat Daddy' Dees on bass, guitar, vocals and percussion; Greg 'Six String' Gumpel on guitar, mandolin, banjo, and vocals; and Brian 'Machine Gunn' Kelly on drums and percussion. Perfect for Halloween partyin'! Check them out at: http://www.myspace.com/victorwainwrightandthewildroots Showtime is 9:30.
