Stacy Mitchhart and the band are about as polished an act we've had at the BBC--mighty polished for the backwoods jook but they sure put on a show on Friday. Tight as a tick, showmanship and a crowd pleaser. Victor Wainwright & The Wild Roots blew us away Saturday night! Barrel-house piano that had folks rockin', soulful vocals that filled the room, a rhythm section that matched Victor note for note and infectious stage presence. Good! Really good! Our best "new" find for 2009. They'll be back. In the meantime, we've have two of the best contemporary blues players, Kenny Neal and Lucky Peterson, one of the classic blues players, James Peterson, and another band on the rise, The Walter Smith Group, making its first BBC appearance next week.

Another reminder that The Annual Tally Awards are taking
place and you can now vote for your favorite Night Life & Entertainment venue in Tallahassee.  The crown jewel of the blues is in your back yard. The club is a favorite among so many bands because of its uniqueness and, not surprisingly, because we have some of the best blues fans a band can play for. The BBC won the award in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 (many, many thanks to our customers) and we'd love to keep it in the house for 2009! Cast your vote at
http://www.thetallyawards.com/tallyawards/vote/category/1026 You can find out more information on the Tally Awards and also vote for your other favorite businesses at http://www.thetallyawards.com/   The voting ends December 15. Vote now and spread the word!

Also, don’t forget that by becoming a member of The Blues Foundation you can receive a $2 discount to most BBC shows and help support many worthwhile programs.  Check out the Foundation at  www.blues.org   You also get to vote in the annual Blues Music Awards.  Memberships start at $25.  You can become a member at https://www.blues.org/#ref=members_index  Tell them the BBC sent you.

The best way to support  the BBC and the blues is by coming out to the club and helping keep the blues live in Tallahassee!

On Thursday, Nov. 5 , Kenny Neal
brings his bayou-basted blues to the BBC for a special show. Kenny is multi-talented, equally adept at guitar, bass, lap steel and harmonica, but it's his soulful blues vocals and songwriting that really shine (his charm and good looks are an added plus). Kenny's style is a true Louisiana gumbo melding the sounds of the bayou with Chicago blues, soul, and upbeat contemporary blues. His stage presence is commanding with a twinkle in his eye and a mesmerizing smile that electrifies audiences, particularly the ladies. Truly, a great showman. He has too many awards and accolades to list, but his most recent was the 2009 Blues Music Award for Song of the Year. The Kenny Neal Band includes brothers Fred on keys and Darnell on bass, with Brian Morris on drums. Together, they put on a high energy, dazzling show! Club favorites, they fill the place every show and this will be no exception. Listen to some of Kenny's music at http://www.myspace.com/kennyneal and http://www.kennyneal.net/albums/bluesfalling.html More at his website: http://www.kennyneal.net/  Show starts at 8:00 pm. Advance tickets are $15 available at http://www.bradfordvilleblues.com/ and $18 on the day of show. Students and members of any blues organization get in for $15 on the day of show
.

Friday, Nov. 6, the legendary Lucky Peterson and James Peterson
team up together for a night to remember. Lucky is a highly acclaimed blues guitarist, organist, songwriter and vocalist (he also plays horns, bass and drums) . James Peterson, his father, is also a legendary bluesman.  These two don't play together often so don't miss your chance. Lucky played his first gig was at age 3. Blues icon Willie Dixon recorded Lucky's first record when Lucky was 5. By the ripe old age of 6, Lucky had already appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show and the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. He toured with Little Milton and Bobby Blue Bland as the featured soloist. Lucky's guitar playing and stage presence is electric. He puts on a show that'll leave ya' breathless, dancin', hot, and screaming for more. One of the best showmen in the business! James is a true jook joint bluesman, belting out gut bucket blues from his vocals, guitar and harp, sometimes from the stage, sometimes from the dance floor. James has a unique style that is a raw, gritty blend of Delta and Chicago blues, with a touch of southern style funk, gospel vocals and soulful R&B. When he's sittin' on the stool and croonin', sometimes blowin' his harp, blues start drippin' from the walls--he's the real deal, folks. Put Lucky and James together and you have the best of traditional and contemporary blues from two masters. More on Lucky at http://www.myspace.com/luckypetersonmusic and http://www.vervemusicgroup.com/luckypeterson/ and on James at: http://www.artistdirect.com/nad/music/artist/card/0,,478832,00.html Together, Lucky and James will set the place ablaze. A rare and don't miss opportunity to see these two legends playing together. Music starts at 9:30 and advance tickets are $15, available at www.bradfordvilleblues.com , and for students and members of any blues organization. Day of show tickets are $18.

Saturday. Nov. 7, The Walker Smith Group
debuts on the corner stage. Born and raised in Chicago, Walter was mentored by blues legends Muddy Waters and Buddy Guy. He later located to the St. Pittsburgh area where the band has developed quite a following playing festivals and blues clubs. Walter is a singer, guitar player and songwriter whose style is reminiscent of Keb Mo--earthy, smooth and root based. Fine traditional, contemporary, Delta and Chicago blues. He's backed by a rhythm section that'll keep folks dancin' and toe tapping. Good stuff! Check them out at http://www.walkersmithgroup.com/ at http://www.myspace.com/walkersmithgroup and at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Walker-Smith-Group/53464480679 Tickets are $12 in advance and $14 on the day of show. Students and blues organization members get in for $12 on the day of show.
