Media Watch, I'd like to say this will be a regular column but lets just enjoy it while it lasts...
Jackie Hayden made us his 'Pick of the Fortnight' in the current issue of Hotpress. He also had these kinds words to say about us.
this is how it ends are a Dublin-based instrumental quartet with members from Cork and Belfast. Their sound leans towards intelligent prog rock, so the absence of a singer is more than compensated for by their deft musical skills. 'we don't dial 911' gets into the soft/ heavy grunge mode from the off, and builds up with squalling guitars like a heavier version of Yes. 'white feathers' is more restrained and has restless drum patterns shuffling under some tasty guitar noodlings. The apocalyptic 'Odysseus 31' is even more atmospheric. Those who feel that many a fine track has been destroyed by an indifferent singer should be very pleased.
Later in the same issue Olaf Taransen had this to say
The wonderfully monikered this is how it ends are a four-piece instrumental act based in Dublin (though two members are from Cork and Belfast respectively). This decidedly avant-garde debut EP is far too experimental to make it in the mainstream, but it's certainly worth a listen. Occasionally sounding a little Slint-ish, it's artfully good. I'll be taking this one out on the headphones for a long walk in the countryside. Just as soon as the rain stops.
We also got reviewed in the Ticket a few weeks ago. In Eoin Butler's Shuffle column we took a blowtorch to the likes of Eminem, Arctic Monkeys and Madonna and received four stars. Here's what he had to say.
we don't dial 911 **** "We are the masters of our own domain," claim this Dublin post-rock three piece. That is, as the saying goes, a little more information than we need. we don't dial 911 owes a rather massive debt to Rock Action-era Mogwai, but it's recommended nonetheless.

We will be playing this Thursday in Twisted Pepper with fellow sonic war mongers Xenon Field. €5 and probably lots of cheap drink on offer too.
