DANISH HARDCORE CREW UNLEASH A COLD AND BRUTAL ASSAULT ON THE SENSES

EIGHT YEARS into their career, Denmark’s premier exponent of crushing, sludgy hardcore, The Psyke Project have turned in a concept record inspired by their homeland. Dull as it sound in theory, the aptly-titled Dead Storm takes you on a front row audio sensory thrill ride, evoking Scandinavian landscape, weather and culture in all its extremities. The music pivots on a quiet/load/really bloody loud formula that might not exactly push any boundaries, but unlike many of their peers, they’ve lovingly crafted every riff, every eerie interlude, so that there is pacing mood and a story worth telling.

DAVID MCLAUGHLIN, KERRANG MAGAZINE

”Dead Storm” is an absolute beast of a record, all earth-shuddering low-end, gleaming muscular riffage and appendix-bursting screams. Its 10 track, while rarely straightforward, are far from impenetrable, and whether they’re evoking the dirge-laden fury of Will Haven or the monolithic power of early Isis, the band succeed in forcing their message home with steel foucs and lethal precision.

MIKE KEMP, ROCKSOUND MAGAZINE

In fact we're going to be bold and claim that Neurosis themselves haven't sounded this precariously balanced on a psycho-emotional tripwire for years.”

METALHAMMER UK
