Five music students from the University of Michigan will be invading the Dayton Music Fest this Saturday, October 6th.
They call themselves Minor Planets and they bleed catchy indie-pop out of the same vein as the New Pornographers and the Buzzcocks.
Although, the band calls Michigan home they say they often look to Dayton for inspiration and are excited to have been invited to play at this year's Dayton Music Fest.
"There is a great vibe in Dayton and we have friends there who have fed us copious amount of inspiration via GBV tunes," said the band. "I mean how cool is the Dayton Music Fest, we can't wait."
The themes of Minor Planets songs range from unemployment in Michigan to the transgendered experience. The combination of slick melodies and clever one-liners make the band a must-see at the Fest.
They are scheduled to play the Nite Owl at Saturday's DMF (see previous post for full schedule including times).
The Minor Planets, who just got back from New York, will continue south after the DMF. They will be performing in Kentucky with love-able alt-rockers from Cincinnati The Sheds.
