In the mountains of Sicily, in a little
village called San Piero, a defiant community organization, Vento del Sud, put
on a concert to celebrate their affinity and love for a music that parallels
their own life experience. The Blues!
In a land traditionally rife with
corruption and oppression, just to be able to put on this event was a victory
for the people in this impoverished locality of San Piero and the activists of
Vento del Sud!
Sonia Alfano, the daughter of an
investigative journalist murdered by the mafia, who has become a representative
in the European parliament, spoke passionately for the restoration and
liberation of this community and it’s people.
We were proud and honored to be a small
part of their battle to revivify their homes and stand shoulder to shoulder in
solidarity with them in their efforts to realize a better tomorrow for
themselves and their children. Viva Sicily!!!
