World Youth Day 2011 is an international Catholic youth celebration
expected to be held over seven days from August 15 21, 2011 in Madrid,
Spain.
Pope Benedict XVI revealed the location of the event at
the final Mass in Australia at Sydney's Royal Randwick Racecourse
during 23th World Youth Day 2008. It will be the second time that Spain
will host the event. World Youth Day 1989 was held from August 15 20,
1989 at Santiago de Compostela.
The World Youth Day logo for
Madrid 2011 symbolizes the letter M for Madrid and the M for Maria, and
it evokes youth coming together. The logo also has a cross that
reflects the theme for World Youth Day, rooted and built up in Christ
and established in the faith. According to the creator of the logo, the
orange, red, and yellow symbolize Spains warmth and the warmth of God.

La
26ª Jornada Mundial de la Juventud, es una celebración internacional
para jóvenes católicos que tendrá lugar entre los días 15 y 21 de
agosto de 2011, en Madrid.
En la última eucaristía celebrada en
la 23ª Jornada Mundial de la Juventud de Sydney (Australia), en 2008;
el Santo Padre reveló la ciudad que acogería el evento. Será la segunda
ocasión en la que España ejercerá de anfitriona en una JMJ
internacional, toda vez que ya en el año 1989 se celebró este mismo
acontecimiento en Santiago de Compostela.
El logo elegido está
compuesto por dos "emes", que quiere simbolizar tanto el nombre de
Nuestra Señora, como el de la ciudad organizadora; así como evocar la
unión de la juventud de todo el mundo. También contiene una cruz que
pretende simbolizar el arraigo y la edificación en Cristo, así como la
firmeza en la Fe contenida en el lema elegido para Madrid 2011. Los
colores naranja, rojo y amarillo, quieren transmitir la calidez del
amor de Dios, pero también la que caracteriza a España y a sus gentes.
