James Brown, the Godfather of Soul and strong Hip Hop Icon, has died at the age of 73 from pneumonia. I am literally in tears whist writing this as i only found out ten minutes ago :(.

For the uniniated, James Brown was resposable for over a hunderd billboard hits (Now serious some shit right there!).

There is no doubt the the advent of the sampler would have finally taken place but i can't help think that James Browns contributions to the music world help speed the whole prosess up-ya feel me.

"Funky Drummer" was practically Public Enemy's theme song! You'd be actually be very surprised how many times snipets of that gem has been used.

"Give it up, turn it loose" was the 1st record that was ever used in a two copy, two turntable consistant manner by Dj Kool Herc in '73, hence the birth of the B-Boy/B-Girl (breakin'), hence the birth of hiP HoP!!!!!!!!!!!

James brown was and alwayz will be considered a 'GOD' within the hop hop world.

One love

As long as the world plays his music and video footage and keeps his name alive he won't fade away...

I had a similar reaction when I found out. I was at Dad's place in Perth for Christmas and took my macbook into the kitchen to listen to JB while I cooked up some dinner.

I had seen him live just a few months before at Brisbanes Vibe Festival, and I was so stoked that I went to that gig and got to see him live before he passed away.

Peace,
~Kaz ;x
