My most favorite question I would ask our youth was, "So, what is God doing in your life right now?"
My most common response to that was a shoulder shrug and, "I don't know".
It is so easy to think that the reason why God put us on this earth is to obey a bunch of theological suggestions from an archaic book; however, that is not at all why God put us on this earth.
God's purpose for my life and your life is simply this: have a strong, vibrant, well rounded relationship with Him.
You see, the Bible is not an archaic book, but rather God's Living Word; it changes lives when you stop "believing" it with your head, and start living it. God - the Holy Spirit - speaks to us through His Word, through prayer, through the church and circumstances. Everything that happens to us in this lifetime is designed to get us closer to God - even the horrible things. Romans 8:28 - "All things work out for good for those who love God and are called according to His purposes."
Let me ask you, what is God doing in your life right now? If your answer is, "I don't know", maybe it's time to see if God is in your life, or maybe see if you have shoved God out of it.
I have come to the realization that many Christians just don't care about what God is doing in their lives, as long as they are happy and have some money in the bank account that is all they want. I challenge you to spend time focusing on who God is and try to wrap your head around the idea that He loves you more than you will ever know. Get in His Word and ask Him to speak to you and show you what He is doing in your life right now. Are we going to settle for being the average Christian (which I don't believe is saved) and just show up to church when we don't sleep in. Are we going to continue being the religion police and point out all the theological flaws of other denominations, or are we going to come back to the GREAT I AM who tells us to look at everything in view of the cross? Are we going to let God be God? Are we ready to lose our religion and replace it with the relationship that God has ready for us? That's why Christ died - to bring us back to a right relationship with God.
Revelation 1:6 says, "To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood and made us a kingdom of priests....." We are to be a kingdom of priests. Look at what God says in the second chapter of Malachi:
"And now, O priests, this command is for you. If you will not listen, if you will not take it to heart to give honor to my name, says the LORD of host, then i will send the curse upon you and I will curse your blessings. Indeed, I have already cursed them, because you do not lay it to heart. Behold, I will rebuke your offspring, and spread dung on your faces, the dung of your offerings, and you shall be taken away with it. So shall you know that I have sent this command to you, that my covenant with Levi may stand, says the LORD of hosts. My covenant with him was one of life and peace, and I gave them to him. It was a covenant of fear, and he feared me. He stood in awe of my name. True instruction was in his mouth, and no wrong was found on his lips. He walked with me in peace and uprightness, and he turned many from iniquity. For the lips of a priest should guard knowledge, and people should seek instruction from his mouth, for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts, but you have turned aside from the way. You have caused many to stumble by your instrucion. You have corrupted the covenant of Levi, says the LORD of hosts, and so I make you despised and abased before all the people, inasmuch as you do not keep my ways, but show partiality in your instruction."
Oh God forgive me for taking your Grace lightly - for cheapening the Miracle Gift of your Son's sacrifice. I want to walk with you! Grow me in our relationship O God.
