Lena and I returned from NYC just about exactly 1 week ago...we had a BLAST, but I have been so exhausted i haven't been able to bring myself to write this blog until now.
Here we go...
We started on Wed. Sept. 17th and after a LONG, LONG day of travel we were very happy to be welcomed into our friends' apartment in Brookly (Cristian and Monica, THANK YOU!)...we went around the corner to a Chinese Take-Out place and got some great food and ate dinner around midnight...

We left PHX around 10am and it's a little after midnight in NYC when we're able to eat some dinner...

Chinese Food!!! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!
Thursday Sept. 18th...Besides going over to Manhatten and checking up on the venue, we had to prepare for the show @ Xunta that night. It went well and Cristian was so nice to let me use his sound equipment and show me how it worked so the gig went really well.

Gotta tune up the guitar...it's for EVERYONE'S benefit!

Martin Gaxiola LIVE at Xunta in NYC!
Me, Monica and Bernadette...we had a wonderful time flamenco-ing together!

Lena was there to show me moral support. We had a truly fabulous occassion!
Friday Sept. 19th...
We spent some time roaming around NYC that night...

Lena and I at "Yum, Yum Thai Food" on 9th Ave around 44th Street. It was great Thai Food...recommended to us by our friend Omayra Amaya. Great call Omayra!!
Saturday Sept. 20th....CALO FLAMENCO debuts in NYC!This is the BIG day (yikes!!!)...what some of you might not know is that a performance night actually starts EARLY that day...we arrived at the theatre @ 9:30am to start our day of technical prep for the concert at 7:30pm that night. There is SO MUCH to be done that we all just hang out at the theatre and are ready for anything all day. We get to practice a bit, but really all of the time is really spent on the technical aspects of the show...lights, sounds, choreographic spacing, etc, etc...it's a long, long process...but all of our work tends to pay off big time.
I am ELATED to announce that our NYC debut not only was to a FULL HOUSE, it was STANDING-ROOM ONLY!!! That's right!!!
We LITERALLY, had a LINE AROUND THE BLOCK!!! Yay US!! Teatro Heckscher seats 620 people and it is estimated that over 750 excited fans showed up to see us last Saturday night!!
Thank you to ALL for your love and support!!

This is the line...PT 1...
If you look at "the line..PT 1" and were to look to the left...this is where the line continues...and then continues around that corner back there too!!! Wow!!!
Here i am getting a couple of things squared away with singers, Chayito and Olivia...we have to find any time we can to get the show as tight as possible.
Here i am with Kris Hill and Adrian Goldenthal...these guys are my 2 best musician friends in the world! They are awesome and they make me sound WAY better than i actually am!
This is the view of Central Park from the Theatre...which is located at 104th St. & 5th Avenue.
The girls...all "Dolled Up" for the show and ready to rock NYC!
Well, that's it for now...I know that there are some pictures of the ACTUAL show floating around so i'll try to get some and post them in my next blog.
Thank you all for all of the emails of support and "break a leg" notes...they really helped!!! We truly ROCKED NYC in full flamenco fashion!!
Ole!
