Songwriters! Music fans! Have you ever wondered were songs actually come from? Read my new short article where I answer that question. Read it here: http://skafishblog.skafish.com/2009/10/1..8/where-do-songs-really-come-from-a-brie..f-spiritual-essay/

I cant say I agree with EVERYTHING you say in your piece, but I certainly go along with much of it especially the way that "trends" (sorry if that word is a little trite) in music seem to develop independantly around the world!

This COULD be explained by the "infinite number of monkeys" principle, in that several people around the world right now are probably doing something fresh & new to us, but similar to each other, we just have not heard them yet!

So many of your early songs were about your very personal intimate experiences and about the way that others viewed and treated you, so I'm not sure from what you write here how much deep personal experience fits into this theory.

My apologies if I have missed something here (it is after midnight on my 50th Birthday so I am just a tad tired and emotional) so feel free to explain:-)

All I know for CERTAIN is that you are a musical genius (wherever that actually comes from) and still are and always will be one of my (only two) musical heroes!

All the very best from Norwich (England)

Gary! First, Happy Birthday!

I hope this is a great year for you and my best wishes are with you always! I appreciate your comments and from a social perspective, I was really alienated, which suggest separation, That journey has been so difficult and painful. Yes, every word and emotion that comes through in the songs are true. Yet, all the songs are "tapped into" from universal mind and I was just trying to illustrate that connectedness! Great success to you! Jim Skafish

Hi Jim,

My english is'nt good enought to tell exactly what i'd like to... but you're right...It's a wise theory to explain history of rock music, and maybe "creation".Appearance of a style, is a combination of thoughts, feelings, technology, events of a time, exploding everywhere for different reasons in such a "mental brotherhood" under different forms... I think we "feel" before we write or listen songs or music we love...( I mean in real song writing not in radio manipulation) that's why some artists means so much...and you're one of them!

OK I maybe not clear...but I've tried...:-)

All the best from Lyon (France)

Marc

Thoroughly agree with your spiritual component and appreciate. There is a Harmony in My Head - well, all of ours, actually. Kudos.

Our creative individuality is heightened by the connectedness to the universal as we're displaying who we are in essence and not just our personality! Thanks for stopping by! Jim
