MY CURRENT TALENT VENTURES: Singing with a co-worker:(Not lip Sync either!)
October 2006, Miami County Historical Society: "Singing Elvi" I sang Love me Tender, Beach Boy Blues and GI Blues. Did a duet with Woody, my co-worker, on Where do I go...a gospel song. We each sang three songs...They are asking us back next year for their talent spot.
Next gig: May 2007, Elk's Lodge in Harrisonville, MO - Blues Brothers. I'm very excited !!!! Rehearsals are work but it's all worth it in the end...especially getting paid to entertain. Our first time here.
Well...the gig at the Elk's Lodge went over fantastic! It was hard for me to judge, being on stage and all, but everyone present really loaded us with complements. Apparently they had a Blues Brothers act a couple of years ago and all they did was lip sync....so we were a real treat for them.
Working on more gigs now for us. Networking with FOP in Wichita, KS for next year's KS FOP Conference! Hope we get it.
Next gig: August 2007: National Night Out in Louisburg, KS!
WOW...this went over really well! We had alot of people dancing around and singing along with us. We got alot of folks coming up after the gig pouring on compliments. There is an amateur video floating around of this performance!
Governor Stumpy's - This was cancelled and put off for possibly a date in March '08. We've not had enough rehearsal time and we have a different set - two sets - to rehearse. More to come later. Well, we haven't done this one yet, though Woody says we have an open invitation to set up. We need to get some equipment of our own to do this one.
Next Gig: Louisburg Kansas National Night Out: August 16th. This went pretty good. I felt a lot better about this performance and I didn't get as exhausted! My sis actually brought her camcorder and that was neat to watch it afterwards. The band who played after we were done actually had me play the cowbell for one of the songs...that was cool.
Now we are working on getting some of our own sound equipment or using a friend's equipment; he also entertains.
New GIG: February 21st in Spring Hill, KS. We will be the opening act for the band for a benefit. More information to come.
