It's the birthday of Peter Tork and Chuck Yeager, the first pilot to break the sound barrier, back in  1945.   It's the 25th day of Pluviôse, day of the hare.  The Phrase and Fable book says medieval scientists thought that rabbits were melancholy animals, and to eat their meat would make one melancholy as well.  Some cultures see a rabbit on the moon, instead of a man. The waxing moon entered Capricorn today at around 11 o'clock this morning.  

James Cooke Brown died today.  He designed the 1950's boardgame Careers, which graces players with career paths such as farming, going to sea, uranium prospecting, politics, and Hollywood.  In the 1990's  Careers for Girls came out, with careers such as school teacher and super mom.
