Today is the Rice Festival in Thailand, the Purgatory Banquet in Italy, and, in addition to being the birthday of Alan Thicke, Bottecelli, and Moses (allegedly 1560 BCE), it is also Hollow Earth Day, National Pig Day, and Elves, Woodworkers, and Mechanics' Day.

The Lindbergh baby was kidnapped in 1932 and Ripley's Believe It or Not first aired on tv today in 1949. It's also the birthday of cyclist Gastone Nencini and Harry Belafonte. He wrote the Banana Boat song.  Edwin Land died in today in 1991.

The Purgatory Banquet sounds really festive. Although I hear it involves a lot of waiting around.
