so on the flight from nyc to geneva i watched 'mary and max'. it's a claymation movie that is one of the best movies i've seen in ages. beautiful and funny and emotional and great.

i assumed it had been released recently and somehow i hadn't heard about it. but it turns out it was released in 1999. am i just ignorant? how is it that i'd never heard of this amazing movie? i rarely recommend movies, but 'mary and max' is amazing, and whoever owns it should re-release it as far and wide as possible.

i even looked it up on rotten tomatoes and it had a 96% positive rating from hundreds of reviewers. ok, go watch it, please.

thanks

I added the movie to my Netflix but it says unknown availability. Wow, alot of people must be trying to watch it now. But it did recommend "Harvie Krumpet" so I added that one also. Thanks Moby.

I tried to find it on Amazon.com & Ebay and couldn't find it. Well Amazon found a different movie that isn't it. So I'm thinking it will be found on an Australian Video Sales website? I'm not sure. I'll look more into it this weekend.

Mo my love, I think the reason why *you* had never heard of it and it looks like most of us commenting on here haven't, is because it is a rare and unkown film. I honestly cannot find much about it online on video sales websites. xo

I'm wondering why the Mary & Max website shop doesn't include the movie to buy. It only appears to have the Audio CD. That's so silly of them. I'm going to write to them and ask them where I purchase the movie and if they let me know I'll share it with everyone here so you can purchase it if you wish too. Smiles.

Maybe the airline Moby took has full rights to the movie.  Actually,t hat is strange. Why would they not have included a way to buy the movie so they could make some money on it. Please do share the information your recieve. Thanks Rachelle.

tried looking up mary and max on imdb, they only have one entry, but its for 2009, not 1999, in fact i didnt find anything resembling "mary and max" for the year 1999, is the 2009 movie the correct entry?

Hey Moby,

'Mary and Max' was actually released in 2009. But believe me, you're far from ignorant! Australia has a medium sized cinema industry, and so doesn't export too many films- you would be forgiven for thinking it was released a while ago. Thanks for the free publicity for an Australian film, I'm sure other people from my homeland also appreciate it =)

A.

PS- Check out 'Harvie Krumpet' as well, it was made by the same filmmaker, Adam Elliot. It took home the 2003 Oscar for Best Animated Short Film.
