Hi peepholes!
So where do I start? Introductions are usually the best way I reckon,
Hi there, There are those of you that know me as Lee and those that know me as Migginz and those that know me as that guy who's worked in nearly all the bars in Harrogate and the rest of you, call me whatever you like.
Well I've had a crazy year and a bit, It all started when my coolest of cool sisters Stacey surprised me with a ticket to go to Australia and see my Nan which prompted one of the biggest and best adventures of my life.
After coming back to the UK I decided a working Holiday or 'Year out' was much needed and as I had family and friends over in Adelaide I figured it would be a great place to start, I was looking for a buddy to go with but I didn't mind if I went alone because my sister had already decided to go there with her mate but one drunken conversation led to my travel buddy Dave, of the trip to Prague to see Rammstein story fame (best holiday ever), agreeing to come with me.
After what seemed like eternity waiting for my Visa, Dave being the spawny git he is got his after an evenings beer drinking time, it finally arrived and off we went globetrotting.
First stop Adelaide, well what can I say? the city of churches and many many pubs and the gateway to the Barossa valley where all the lovely wine is made, was a good place but very boring, Dave figured this out before I did and ventured off to Sydney after Christmas, much to our friend Emmy Loo's dismay ( big shout to her for putting up with us and taking us to places), I however stayed for almost 5 months in 'laide due to my Nan being in and out of Hospital for bowel cancer treatment and things, poor lady went from being a good sized independent women to a frail frail almost shadow of herself in a matter of months so I was quite worried and spent as much time as I could with her which i'm sure, regardless of her stubbornness, she loved. I also was given a job at the Modbury Soccer Club in Modbury Heights, great place, great people I made a few friends and met the lovely Brzesinski family, of whom Helen became my new mum for a while and gave me more help than a lot of people with a lot of things and I muchly appreciate that. her daughter Rachel is cool too she took me under her wing for a while and showed me the Barossa and drove me to countless places.
Eventually though the time came and I was told to stop wasting my time waiting and go off and do my own thing, as I had been talking to a lovely girl named Shae for quite a while I figured Brisbane was my next port of call.
What can I say, Brissy is AWESOME! I spent a while looking for a job which was quite hard as at the time there was a 3 month limit for any one employer so nobody wanted me, eventually I got a Job at the Jubilee Hotel in Fortitude Valley
a kick as place right on the RNA show grounds, I got the job just at the right time as the Ekka was coming upon us, kind of like the Great Yorkshire show but with a lot more to do. there I met a lovely and quirky crew of people who I still think about a lot and wonder how they are going in the wide world! big big shout to All of y'all and thanks for the good times if you ever read this, Ill return one day, with a vengeance and maybe a few extra kilos.
In Brisbane I met and saw and did lots of weird wonderful things, people, bands, it was awesome I've never felt so at ease and accepted anywhere else except with my group of friends back here in the UK and I'd highly recommend it to anyone. during my stay there my sisters birthday came up, as little sis was all the way in Sydney I popped over to see her, I had a great time but Sydney, as little I saw of it just isn't for me! especially on a weekend out, too busy and full of rude people all over the place, maybe someone will re-educate me when I get back but its not a big priority on my list.
So whilst in Brissy towards the end of my stay I met a lovely Lady called Lindsay (in the pics) It all started thru my friend Jeremy, he knew her and we spent a few nights going out and ending up back at hers, Jeremy falling asleep and Me and Linds chatting till the sun rose, It was awesome and as she seemed sane and cool so I invited her to come to back to Adelaide with me as I was flying back from there and wanted to go back to see my Nan for a while, we really hit it off and I actually felt quite sad to leave her when the time came almost as sad as I was that I may never see my Nan again.
So a year on I had to depart Australia via Adelaide and come to this dreary horrible place, could be worse though, Harrogate is nice to live in I just wish it was a lot more sunny and laid back and not so pretentious. After literally a day back my Lindsay called and told me she'd booked a flight and got her passport application in, I was so so overwhelmed I think I might have shed a happy tear but I won't admit to it! so another Journey began in my life, which didn't begin so well, The day I picked her up my Nan finally succumbed to the after effects of the Cancer and died, Naturally I was quite upset, I think if Lindsay hadn't been here though I would have been a lot worse, I love My Nan and miss her dearly, I'm sure anyone else who's met her will tell you she was awesome, took anyone in as her own and took care of you the best way she could! She didn't deserve to go thru all she did but she's in a better place as they say, one can't be so selfish and want her here going thru all that misery!
RIP Helena Robinson!!! You were loved by All!!!
Well now all that's out of the way I'm going to leave y'all, I shall post my new adventures with Lindsay in my next free time.
Keep SAFE and have FUN people!
I'd also like to give a Congrats to Woggzeh for becoming an Uncle this week (www.woggzehsblog.blogspot.com) and give a shout out to all you Aussies, especially Lindsay, Happy Australia day to all!!!! have a few Coopers stubbies for me!!
